1. Role Summary
The HR Officer is responsible for managing all human resource functions at the mine site, ensuring compliance with labor laws, safety regulations, and organizational policies. The role involves recruitment, employee relations, training, payroll coordination, and supporting a safe, productive work environment specific to mining operations.
2. Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Staffing
Manage end-to-end recruitment for mine staff, operators, technical teams, and support functions.
Conduct interviews, background verification, skill testing, and onboarding.
Coordinate with contractors and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
Employee Relations
Maintain strong relationships with workers, unions, and contractors.
Address grievances promptly and implement conflict-resolution procedures.
Conduct disciplinary procedures as per company and legal guidelines.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to labor laws, mining safety regulations, and government compliance requirements.
Maintain updated employee records, leave management, attendance logs, and statutory registers.
Prepare reports for internal audits, inspections, and regulatory bodies.
Training & Development
Coordinate safety training, induction programs, and skill-development activities.
Ensure compliance with mandatory mining safety certifications (e.g., first aid, equipment operation training).
Track training attendance and maintain records.
Health, Safety & Welfare
Support HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) team in implementing safety policies.
Monitor welfare facilities like accommodation, food, sanitation, transportation, and PPE distribution.
Assist in incident reporting and support post-incident HR documentation.
Payroll & Benefits
Coordinate with accounts/payroll team for timely salary processing.
Ensure accuracy in attendance, overtime, shift allowances, and bonus calculations.
Manage employee insurance, PF, ESI, gratuity, and other statutory benefits.
Performance Management
Assist in setting KPIs, conducting performance appraisals, and maintaining appraisal records.
Identify staff development needs and recommend training or role changes.
3. Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
Additional certification in Industrial Relations or Mining HR (preferred).
Experience
2–5 years of HR experience (Mining/Manufacturing/Heavy industries preferred).
Experience in dealing with labor-intensive environments and contractors.
Skills
Strong understanding of labor laws and statutory compliance.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in remote locations and handle large workforce operations.
Proficiency in MS Office and HR management software.
4. Working Conditions
Mine-site based role with exposure to field operations.
Rotational shifts may be required as per operational needs.
Requires regular interaction with workers, union representatives, and site management.
