The Team / チームについて

Web Technology Teamのミッションは、Webベースのサービスを「スピード」と「品質」の両立で提供することで、SmartNewsにおけるインパクトの大きい機能開発のスループットを最大化することです。

LLMの普及により、Webエンジニア以外でもサービスを実装できる時代になりつつあります。一方で、Web特有のパフォーマンス・セキュリティリスクを排し、高い品質基準を維持するには、依然として専門的な知見が不可欠です。私たちはそのギャップを埋める存在として、SmartNewsアプリ内の記事閲覧体験、モバイルWebサービス群、AIを活用したコンテンツ生成・配信体験、コーポレートサイトなど、幅広いWebプロダクトにオーナーシップを持ちます。

これらのサービスにおいて、Web開発の知見を再利用可能な標準として整えることで、プロジェクトごとの品質のバラつきを抑えながら、迅速なサービス提供を実現しています。

The Web Technology Team's mission is to maximize the throughput of high-impact feature development at SmartNews by delivering web-based services with both speed and quality.

The proliferation of LLMs is making it increasingly possible for non-web engineers to build services on their own. Yet specialized expertise remains essential to eliminate web-specific performance and security risks and to maintain a high quality bar. We bridge that gap, owning a wide range of web products across SmartNews including the in-app article reading experience, our mobile web services, AI-powered content generation and delivery experiences, and our corporate site.

Across these services, we consolidate web development know-how into reusable standards, which allows us to maintain our high standard for quality across projects while still delivering rapidly.

このポジションでは、モダンなWeb技術スタックとAIを活用し、数百万のユーザーに届くWebサービスの設計・構築・リリースを推進していただきます。

与えられた仕様を実装するだけでなく、スマートニュースのビジネス成長およびミッションの実現に向けて「何を作るべきか」から考えられるプロダクト・マインドセット を大切にしています。ユーザーが良質な情報に出会い、理解を深められる体験とは何かを考え、提案し、実装していただきます。同様に、ビジネスサイドメンバーの業務上の課題を見つけ、生産性を高めるツールを企画・開発することも、このロールの重要な価値です。

私たちのプロジェクトは、モバイル・バックエンド・デザイン・コンテンツなど他チームを巻き込んで進めるものが多数あります。そのため、関係者の協力を得ながらプロジェクトを前に進められるコミュニケーション能力を重視しています。担当領域については、構想から本番運用までオーナーシップを持っていただきます。

AIを開発に活用しながら、「考えること」の得意なエンジニアを募集しています。AIが生成した実装やアーキテクチャが本質的に正しいかを判断し、AIが見落としがちなパフォーマンス・セキュリティ・保守性のリスクを見抜けることができる方です。その判断を個人のレビューに委ねるのではなく、型・テスト・静的解析・CI・自動レビューといったハーネスを整えて誤りが自動的に検出される環境をつくることで、デリバリーを加速させていただきます。

• アプリ内Web体験の進化: 数百万の読者が日々利用する、アプリ内の記事閲覧体験やWebベースの機能群を改善・刷新する。
• AIを活用したコンテンツ体験: 良質な情報を大規模に生成・配信する新しいコンテンツ体験や、それを支えるコンテンツ管理の仕組みを構築する。
• 社内向けツールによる生産性向上: ビジネス側スタッフの業務を深く理解し、AIを活用した管理画面や自動化ツールによって、エンジニアの手を借りずに施策を実行できる状態をつくる。

In this role, you will drive the design, development, and release of web services that reach millions of SmartNews users, using a modern web stack and fully leveraging AI.

This is an era where AI writes much of the code. We are looking for engineers who not only leverage AI in their development, but who can also think: people who can judge whether an AI-produced implementation or architecture is fundamentally sound, and who spot the performance, security, and maintainability risks that AI tends to miss. Rather than leaving that judgment to individual review, you will accelerate delivery by building the harness (types, tests, static analysis, CI, automated review) that makes errors surface automatically.

We expect our engineers to have a product mindset and the ability to start from "what should we build?" rather than simply implementing a given spec. You will ask what it takes for users to discover quality information and deepen their understanding of it, then propose and build that experience. Equally important to this role is identifying the pain points of our business teams (editorial, content operations, marketing) and designing and building tools that make them significantly more productive.

Many of our projects extend beyond our own team, involving mobile, backend, design, and content. Our engineers need the communication skills to move projects forward by earning the cooperation of everyone involved. Within your areas, you will own the work end to end, from concept through production operation.

Examples of projects include, but are not limited to:

• Evolving in-app web experiences: Improving and rebuilding the in-app article reading experience and web-based features used daily by millions of readers.
• AI-powered content experiences: Building new content experiences that generate and deliver quality information at scale, along with the content management systems behind them.
• Productivity through internal tools: Developing a deep understanding of our business teams' work, and using AI-powered admin interfaces and automation to let them execute initiatives without needing an engineer.

Responsibilities / 主な業務内容

• TypeScript、Next.js/React、Knative/Kubernetesを用いてWebサービスとそのバックエンドを設計・構築・デプロイし、構想から本番運用、品質・パフォーマンスモニタリング、オンコールまで一貫してオーナーシップを持つこと。
• AI／エージェント型コーディングツールを活用して開発を加速させること。あわせて、生成されたコードの正確性・パフォーマンス・セキュリティ・保守性が自動的に検証されるハーネスを整備すること。
• アーキテクチャ・技術的意思決定を主導し、人間かAIかを問わず、ある実装がその課題に対する正しい解であるかを批判的に評価すること。
• ユーザーが良質な情報に出会い、理解を深められる体験を主体的に構想し、自ら提案・実装し、検証を経てリリースまで導くこと。
• 社内のビジネス側スタッフの業務上のペインを発見し、生産性を高めるツールを自ら企画・開発・改善すること。
• チーム内で完結しないプロジェクトにおいて、プロダクトマネージャー、デザイナー、他のエンジニアリングチームの協力を得ながら要件を形づくり、リリースまで推進すること。

• Design, build, and deploy web services and their backends using TypeScript, Next.js/React, and Knative/Kubernetes, owning them end to end — from concept through production operation, quality and performance monitoring, and on-call.
• Accelerate development with AI / agentic coding tools, and build the harness that automatically verifies the correctness, performance, security, and maintainability of the resulting code.
• Lead architectural and technical decisions, critically evaluating whether human or AI-authored implementations are the right solutions to the problem.
• Proactively envision experiences that help users discover quality information and deepen their understanding of it, then propose, build, validate, and ship them.
• Identify pain points in the work of our business teams, and design, build, and iterate on tools that make them more productive.
• On projects that extend beyond our team, shape requirements and drive them to release by earning the cooperation of product managers, designers, and other engineering teams.

Requirements

応募要件（必須）

• 3年以上のソフトウェア開発の実務経験。特にTypeScriptおよびモダンなWebフレームワーク（Next.js / React など）に習熟していること。パフォーマンス・セキュリティ・ブラウザの挙動といったWebの基礎を踏まえて、本番サービスのアーキテクチャを設計・評価できること。
• AI／エージェント型コーディングツールの実務経験。その出力を鵜呑みにせず本質的な正しさを判断でき、その判断をテストや自動検証の仕組みへ落とし込めること。
• 「何を作るべきか」から考えられるプロダクト・マインドセット。ユーザー体験の改善や社内の業務課題を解決するツールを主体的に提案・実装し、他チームの協力を引き出しながらリリースまで完遂できること。
• 英語・日本語ともにビジネスレベルのコミュニケーション能力（技術的議論は英語、日本市場向けのプロダクト・ビジネス関係者との連携は日本語で行うため）。
• 3+ years of professional software development experience, with strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern web frameworks (e.g., Next.js / React), and a solid enough grasp of web fundamentals (performance, security, browser behavior) to design and evaluate the architecture of a production service.
• Hands-on experience with AI / agentic coding tools with the ability to judge whether their output is fundamentally correct rather than taking it at face value, and to encode that judgment into tests and automated verification.
• Product mindset focused on "what should we build?" You can independently pitch UX or internal tool fixes and align cross-functional teams to get them shipped.
• Business-level communication proficiency in both English and Japanese (technical discussions are in English, while collaboration with product and business stakeholders for the Japanese market is in Japanese).

• Kubernetes / Knative上でのWebサービス運用経験（CI/CD、オブザーバビリティを含む）。
• LLMを活用したプロダクト機能の構築経験（コンテンツ生成から配信まで）。
• 社内の業務ユーザー向けツールや管理画面を開発し、業務効率を大きく改善した経験。
• プロダクトを0から1へ立ち上げた経験、またはA/Bテストなどデータに基づく仮説検証を通じてユーザー体験を改善した経験。
• 機能をリリースするために、必要に応じてバックエンドやデータパイプラインにも踏み込めるフルスタックな対応力。
• Experience operating web services on Kubernetes / Knative, including CI/CD and observability.
• Experience building LLM-powered product features, from content generation through delivery.
• Experience building internal tools or admin interfaces that significantly improved how business users work.
• Experience taking a product from 0 to 1, or improving the user experience through data-driven validation such as A/B testing.
• Full-stack breadth: comfortable extending into the backend or data pipelines as needed to ship a feature.
