Pay Rate: $23.50-$25.50/hour

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Icahn Stadium Maintenance Worker is responsible for supporting the year-round maintenance, upkeep and operations of Icahn Stadium and Randall’s Island Park grounds. The Maintenance Worker will report to the Director and Manager of Icahn Stadium and work with other members of the department. In addition to general maintenance and custodial responsibilities, this position is responsible for supporting all events and activities held at Icahn Stadium. The Icahn Stadium Maintenance Worker is required to work on-site, both indoors and outdoors and must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays and a fluctuating schedule based on the event calendar. The Maintenance Worker will work collaboratively with other departments to assist with general park maintenance, custodial work, events and other needs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the preparation, operation and breakdown of all events held at Icahn Stadium including but not limited to track and field meets, soccer matches and practices, other athletic events, community events, etc.
• Assist with event-related needs throughout the stadium, including equipment setup and breakdown, seating and venue preparation, cleaning and custodial support, and other operational needs before, during, and after events.
• Work with the Director and Manager of Icahn Stadium and the other members of the department to perform light repair and maintenance work throughout Icahn Stadium, its surrounding areas and the general park and its facilities.
• Perform general custodial and cleaning duties including, but not limited to, cleaning dirt accumulation and debris from monuments/structures, graffiti removal, picking up litter, and raking debris.
• Assist with event set-up and clean-up, as needed for RIPA programming and staff events.
• Provide occasional guidance and training to seasonal staff members.
• Keep the Director and Manager of Icahn Stadium informed regarding projects and tasks, flagging potential issues.
• Operate hand tools and small equipment such as blowers, and motorized equipment
• Ensure all equipment is secure and well-maintained, including performing minor repairs to equipment and machinery.
• Interact with park patrons with a welcoming and friendly demeanor.
• Assist other departments, when needed.
• Other general tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid Driver License
• Willing to work in all types of weather, under strenuous conditions.
• Ability to work holidays, evenings, weekends and a fluctuating schedule.
• Ability to perform physical labor; must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Motivated and punctual, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in maintenance/custodial work.
• Detail-oriented, with considerable attention to order and cleanliness.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate and create positive working relationships.
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
