Description
Salary: $72 – $74 per hour
Company: TechWise Solutions Limited
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Position: ICT Project Manager
About TechWise Solutions
TechWise Solutions is an Auckland-based technology partner helping New Zealand businesses move beyond spreadsheets, disconnected systems, and generic software tools. We design and build fit-for-purpose solutions—ranging from custom software and internal business applications to workflow automation and system integration—that solve real operational problems. Our projects are practical, outcome-driven, and require close collaboration with clients who have outgrown their existing systems.
Position Overview
We are seeking a ICT Project Manager to take ownership of the full project lifecycle for our custom software and systems integration engagements. You will be responsible for translating client operational needs into deliverable technology outcomes, managing multidisciplinary teams of developers and integrators, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the quality standards expected by our NZ business clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the entire lifecycle of ICT projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring each engagement is delivered in line with agreed scope and client expectations.
2. Create detailed project plans that outline deliverables, timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting specific to custom software and systems integration projects.
3. Manage the selection, implementation, and integration of new technology solutions into client ICT environments, ensuring alignment with TechWise's technical capabilities and minimal disruption to existing operations.
4. Identify, analyse, and manage risks associated with ICT projects—particularly those related to bespoke software development, data migration, and third-party system dependencies—to ensure smooth execution and delivery.
5. Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure that ICT project deliverables meet specified standards, internal quality benchmarks, and client requirements.
6. Manage multidisciplinary teams of various ICT professionals, including software developers, systems integrators, and business analysts, to ensure efficient project execution and resource prioritisation.
7. Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and non-technical client stakeholders, translating operational pain points into technical requirements and reporting progress in clear business terms.
8. Analyse client information needs and specify the technology required to meet those needs, supporting the scoping and business analysis phases of each project.
9. Direct the selection, installation, and configuration of ICT resources, including overseeing user training and formal handover to client teams where required.
10. Set priorities between system development, maintenance, and integration tasks to ensure smooth operational delivery across concurrent projects.
Key Requirements
1. A bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field.
2. At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
3. Proven ability to manage projects involving custom software development and/or systems integration.
4. Experience in budgeting, resource scheduling, and cost control for technology projects.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage client expectations and negotiate priorities effectively.
6. Experience working within a consultancy or software development agency environment.
Remuneration:
1. Pay range: $72–$74 per hour
2. Minimum working hours: 40 hours per week (full-time position)
What We Offer
1. The opportunity to work on practical, varied technology projects that directly improve how NZ businesses operate.
2. A collaborative environment where you will work closely with experienced developers and directly with business owners/operators.
3. Exposure to a range of industries and technical stacks, supporting your continued professional development.
4. A role where you can genuinely influence project outcomes and see the tangible impact of your work.
