Impact Factor Factory Lead (m/f/d)

Summary

Lead a team to develop and refine internal environmental impact factors using LCA databases like WFLDB and Ecoinvent, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality sustainability reporting.

Job Description:

This role is critical for accelerating the internalization of impact factor creations. As requests from all segments have grown, the business case for the in-house team to lead the development of our impact factors is stronger than ever. There is a need of a dedicated manager who coordinates and leads the team and therefore this position will be pivotal in building that internal capability.

What would be your key responsibilities?

Impact factor creation leadership

  • Oversee the development of generic emission factors using WFLDB and Ecoinvent databases.

  • Lead the strategy for updating supply-specific emissions factors and deriving emissions factors from reviewed LCA outputs.

  • Responsible for the development of most complex emission factors using the WFLDB and Ecoinvent databases.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency to ensure internal development of impact factors remains significantly more cost effective and of higher quality than external alternatives.

  • Link with LCA experts (internal and external) to make sure emerging environmental regulations, standards, and reporting requirements are applied

  • Stay updated on advancements in LCA methodologies and tools, incorporating best practices into analyses.

  • Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations, standards, and reporting requirements.

Data Accuracy & efficiency

  • Review calculations of LCAs to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Identifying data gaps or issues, escalation for support when needed, and working together with Mars sustainability leads & corporate team to address them.

Communication

  • Engage with stakeholders across segments and corporate to gather necessary data and insights for LCA calculations.

  • Collaborate closely with Segment Program Leads and R&D Sustainability Leads.

  • Ability to work flexibly with globally dispersed teams and across different time zones.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in agronomy, engineering, data science and/or sustainability-related topic (Life Cycle Assessment, data management)

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a quantitative data analysis field, with at least 1.5 years in a life cycle assessment (LCA) accounting related role within a corporation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data accuracy and quality.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global stakeholders.

  • Passion for sustainability and driving impactful environmental outcomes.
