Import Export Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to international trade operations, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and managing the logistics and transportation processes for inbound and outbound shipments. This role plays a key part in optimizing costs, reducing lead times, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and raw materials. Implement the processes needed to obtain all documentation required from different departments, and lead all audits related to the International Commerce area.

Essential Functions

· Develop and implement all processes related to compliance with international, federal and local laws and regulations related to international commerce

· Coordinate and monitor international and domestic transportation, ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveries.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers.

· Ensure compliance with INCOTERMS, trade agreements, tariffs, duties, and customs requirements.

· Supervise logistics teams, setting internal indicators and ensuring operational efficiency.

· Optimize logistics processes and costs, including packaging, shipping modes, and routing.

· Maintain accurate records of shipments, costs, and performance metrics.

· Work closely with internal departments (Planning, Purchasing, Production, Finance) to align logistics strategies with company goals.

· Manage claims for transportation damages or delays, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

· Stay current with regulatory changes and propose proactive strategies to mitigate risks.

· Ensure full compliance of IVA/IEPS certification and Annex 30 requirements

· Supervise the Import-Export team and external consultants to ensure full compliance of IMMEX requirements.

· Coordinate import operations for items purchased from suppliers in other countries, including the logistics follow up to ensure timely deliveries for raw materials, outsourced and finished products.

· Coordinate export operations for both virtual and physical transactions, ensuring proper record keeping.

· Participate in communications with customers or suppliers related to import-export operations.

· Oversee administration and maintenance of all IMMEX Annex requirements.

· Coordinate closing of virtual operations with customers.

· Oversee the creation of documentation for import-export operations (proformas, change of regime, pediment validation, bill of materials, and others as needed).

· Supports international outbound logistics operations with the warehouse team

· Identify areas of opportunity in the department, recommend, develop and execute improvements projects.

· Proactively recommend improvements to Executive Manager

· Follow any and all our ISO 14001 procedures related to reduce our environmental impact

· Attend any relevant process, product, or professional development training as assigned by manager

Position Qualifications

Authority

· Communicate to Plant Managers/Leaders any transactions related to import-export that could jeopardize legal compliance

· Addresses and stops any dangerous activity as may cause damage to the product, process, personal and/or environment
