We are looking for a reliable and professional Impound Driver to join our team. The Impound Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently towing, transporting, and securing vehicles from private properties using an auto loader in accordance with company policies and applicable local and state regulations. This position requires excellent driving skills, attention to detail, strong customer service, and the ability to remain professional in potentially stressful situations.
Compensation $20.00 per hour + commission
Responsibilities
  • Operate a tow truck with an auto loader to impound vehicles in accordance with company policies and local/state regulations.
  • Respond promptly to dispatch calls and follow assigned routes and instructions.
  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload vehicles using proper towing procedures and equipment.
  • Complete all required documentation, including impound reports, vehicle condition reports, chain of custody documentation, and other company-required records.
  • Communicate professionally with property owners, law enforcement agencies, vehicle owners, and co-workers.
  • Follow company procedures and legal requirements related to private property impounds
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of assigned equipment and vehicle.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any maintenance concerns immediately.
  • Utilize GPS, dispatch systems, vehicle cameras, tablets, and other onboard technology accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with organizing, parking, and securing vehicles within the impound lot.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures to prevent damage to vehicles, property, or equipment.
  • Report incidents, accidents, damage claims, and equipment issues to management immediately.
  • Provide service through courteous and professional customer interactions.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Report each scheduled day on time, ready and able to work, well-groomed and in uniform.
  • Complete daily reports and maintain accurate written and electronic records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license for the state in which the position works.
  • Clean driving record with the ability to meet company driving standards.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Previous towing, recovery, impound, repossession, commercial driving, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate an auto loader, wheel lift, or similar towing equipment. Training may be provided for qualified candidates.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.
  • Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Must be fluent in English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, supervisors, understand traffic signals, and complete required paperwork and reports.
  • Basic computer and tablet proficiency required.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with upset or confrontational individuals.
  • Must be able to pass applicable background screening, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening requirements.
Physical Requirements
Job requires frequent driving, entering and exiting a tow truck, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, pulling, reaching, and the constant use of hands. Position requires physical strength and stamina to secure vehicles, operate towing equipment, and perform inspections.
  • Ability to lift and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Frequent climbing in and out of commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Good hearing and vision required.
  • Ability to safely perform vehicle inspections, securement procedures, and impound lot activities.
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
  • Work involves extensive driving and outdoor activity.
  • Frequent interaction with property managers, law enforcement personnel, customers, and members of the public.
  • Overtime opportunities may be available.
