In-Home Sales Consultant, Water Damage

1. About Us

Clean USA Water Mold & Fire has helped Chicagoland homeowners recover from water, mold and fire damage since 1988. We are independently owned and locally based in Sycamore and Elmhurst.

Here is what makes us different. We do not take insurance program work, so nobody hands us a job that is already sold. Most of our calls come from local plumbers and insurance agents who trust us with their customers. Every one of those jobs is won or lost in the homeowner’s kitchen. That is why we hire salespeople.

Our core values are Commitment, Unity, Service & Safety, and Accountability (CUSA). We take pride in turning a bad day into a plan the homeowner trusts.

2. Role Mission

Turn water damage calls into signed jobs by earning the homeowner’s trust on the first visit, at a closing rate of 65% or better and an average sold job of $4,000 to $5,500.

We call this role Project Manager inside the company. In practice it is an in-home sales job. You inspect, scope, recommend and close, then hand a clean job to our production team.

This is a hybrid role. Your day starts from home. You head straight to appointments across Chicagoland in your company vehicle and come into our Sycamore office once a week for the sales meeting.

3. Who We Are Looking For

You have sold in the home before. Pest control, windows, siding, roofing, or any sale where you walk in as a stranger and leave with a signature. You build trust fast, ask good questions, handle objections without getting pushy, and ask for the business.

You like a full day. Calls come in, plans change, and you switch gears without losing your edge. You show up when the phones light up after a storm.

You do not need restoration experience. We will teach you water damage, drying and our estimating tools. We cannot teach you to close.

4. Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Run 4 to 5 in-home inspections a day using our 7 step sales process, from first contact through the close.
  • Close 55% or more of your assigned leads, with 65% and up as the standard for top performers.
  • Hold an average sold job of $4,000 to $5,500 by scoping the full loss and recommending what the home actually needs.
  • Sell $1.3M to $1.8M a year once you are fully up to speed.
  • Gather the claim details on every visit: insurance agent, adjuster, claim number, deductible, and the plumber who made the repair.
  • Sketch, scope, photograph and document every job, sold or lost, and finish all Dash tasks on site or the same day.
  • Cover every assigned lead on scheduled workdays, take your turn in the on call rotation, and work through storm surges.
  • Hand each sold job to production with a clean scope so the crew starts right the first time.

5. Required Experience & Skills

Required

  • In-home or direct sales experience with a record of closing (pest control, windows, siding, roofing or similar)
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Available for the on call rotation and storm surge periods, including some evenings and weekends

Preferred

  • Xactimate experience (we will train you)
  • IICRC WRT certification
  • Restoration or construction sales experience

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Scored monthly and reviewed at 90 days.

  • Closing %: Sold jobs divided by sold plus lost on your assigned leads. 55% minimum, 65% and up is top tier.
  • Average sold job: $4,000 to $5,500.
  • Sold volume: On pace for $1.3M to $1.8M a year.
  • Inspections: 4 to 5 a day on scheduled workdays.
  • Documentation: Every Dash task complete the same day, on sold and lost jobs.

7. Benefits/Perks

  • $63,000 base salary, paid biweekly
  • Work from home. Dispatch to appointments from your house, with one office day a week in Sycamore for the sales meeting
  • Company vehicle you take home every night
  • Laptop, phone, tablet and top of the line inspection tools
  • 50% of personal health insurance paid after 60 days, with dental, vision and life available
  • 401(k) after 90 days
  • Paid time off and six paid holidays
  • Room to grow into leadership and marketing roles

8. Bonus Information

  • Commission: 2%-3% of collected revenue on jobs you sell. No cap. Paid monthly on jobs paid in full.
  • Monthly Quality Bonus: Up to $2,000 a month for hitting your closing % and average sold job targets.
  • What it adds up to: At $1.3M to $1.8M a year in sold and collected jobs, 3% commission runs about $39,000 to $54,000. That puts total pay in a full year at 3% around $102,000 to $117,000 before the monthly bonus.
