In-House Legal Counsel - Contracts & Employment Law
We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable In-House Legal Counsel to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, with experience in labour law, commercial/business contract law, liability insurance topics, supplier management and related compliance matters.
As a In-House Legal Counsel, you will provide practical legal support and guidance to various departments across the organization, with a primary focus on supplier management, supplier and customer contract management, and labour law. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers to help identify legal risks and ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Supplier Management:
- Conduct due diligence and risk assessments of potential and existing suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate supplier compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
- Develop and implement supplier management processes and procedures.
Supplier Contract Management:
- Review, draft, and negotiate supplier contracts to ensure compliance with legal and business requirements.
- Advise on legal terms and conditions, including indemnification, liability, and warranty clauses.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with supplier contracts.
Customer Contract Management:
- Review and analyze customer contracts to ensure legal compliance and identify potential risks.
- Provide guidance on contract negotiation and amendment processes.
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure operational contract management.
Labour Law Advice:
- Provide guidance and advice on labour law matters, including employment contracts, terminations, and employee rights.
- Advise on body leasing arrangements and compliance with relevant labour laws.
- Stay updated on changes in labour laws and ensure the organization's policies and practices are compliant.
General Legal & Compliance Support:
- Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct compliance training and awareness programs for employees.
- Collaborate with internal audit and risk management teams to identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, International Law, or a related field. A higher degree or certification in Compliance or related areas is a plus.
- Proven experience in a legal, contracts or in-house legal role, preferably in a multinational or international organization.
- Strong knowledge of legal topics applicable to the business, including labour law, commercial/business contract law, insurance-related topics, and supplier management.
- Experience in conducting due diligence and risk assessments of suppliers.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating supplier and customer contracts.
- Familiarity with compliance programs, policies, and procedures is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high ethical standards.
- Fluent English required; German or another European language would be a strong advantage.
- Willingness to provide a recent criminal record extract (not older than three months).
