Independent Living Support Worker

The opportunity
We are currently looking to fill multiple new opportunities for Part-Time Independent Living Support Workers in the Winnipeg region.
The successful candidate will provide individual and group support within home and community settings to adults with complex disabilities, which may include concurrent brain injuries and mental health disorders.
Starting wage: $19.63 hourly, with annual increases.
Schedule: Weekdays, weekends on a Day (7am-3pm) and Evening (3pm-11pm) shift basis.
Hours: Up to 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Emphasis on assisting clients to build independence with activities of daily living, and community integration.
Work a variety of shifts flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, variable hours per week. Day shifts are 7am-3pm, evening shifts are 3pm-11pm. Note, weekend availability and ability to work alternating weekends is required.
Perform duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains client and staff health and safety.
March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its clients. Support workers work a variety of shifts (i.e., weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations.

Qualifications and experience

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is necessary
High School graduate or equivalent
CPR/Standard First Aid training required within the first 3 months of employment
Proven consistency in work performance, including reliability and flexibility
Proven teamwork abilities
Ability to speak, read, and write English
