SCHEDULE

The Indiana operation primarily runs Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work, emergency response needs, or schedule modifications based on contract requirements, weather events, or operational demands.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Supervisor is responsible for the daily execution, inspection, safety, productivity, and compliance of assigned litter abatement crews within a designated Indiana region. This role ensures Level of Service (LOS) standards are consistently met through proactive patrol, inspection driven deployment, disciplined operational oversight, and timely response to deficiencies or complaints, Level of Service (LOS) standards are consistently met through proactive patrol, inspection driven deployment, disciplined operational oversight, and timely response to deficiencies or complaints.

The Supervisor reports directly to the Area Operations Manager and serves as the first line of quality control for assigned routes and corridors.

DAY IN THE LIFE

Typical litter collection operations include:

  • Crew Members who perform litter collection and debris removal.
  • Assistant Supervisors who operate transport vehicles and oversee crews in the absence of the Supervisor

On a typical day, the Supervisor conducts morning briefings, assigns routes, escorts crews to designated work zones, and patrols assigned corridors. Throughout the day, the Supervisor monitors safety, quality, and productivity; verifies contract compliance; addresses field issues; and adjusts deployment based on inspections, complaints, or operational priorities.

JOB DUTIES

Field Operations & Leadership

  • Oversee day to day operations of multiple litter abatement crews, up to 15–20 employees
  • Conduct daily crew briefings and assign routes
  • Escort and deploy crews to designated work locations
  • Monitor field performance and ensure compliance with contract requirements
  • Assist crews with litter collection, loading, and unloading as needed to meet performance goals
  • Exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and self-control in all situations
  • Foster teamwork and alignment with organizational goals

Route Patrol & Quality Control

  • Conduct routine patrol inspections of assigned highways, interstates, and rights-of-way
  • Identify litter accumulation, debris hazards, drainage concerns, or performance deficiencies
  • Proactively initiate corrective deployment before LOS thresholds are exceeded
  • Verify completion and quality of remedial work
  • Maintain inspection logs sufficient to demonstrate contract compliance
  • Serve as the first line of quality control within the assigned region

Contract Performance & Compliance

  • Ensure assigned routes consistently meet LOS standards
  • Prevent threshold exceedances through proactive inspection and deployment
  • Document deficiencies, corrective actions, and resolutions
  • Immediately escalate unresolved performance risks to the Area Operations Manager
  • Maintain documentation sufficient to support client review or audit

Productivity & Performance Management

  • Report to work as scheduled and work the full assigned shift
  • Monitor crew productivity, routing efficiency, and utilization
  • Reduce unnecessary travel time and idle labor
  • Track and report daily metrics including miles patrolled, miles serviced, crew hours, complaint responses, and special assignments
  • Identify and communicate process improvement opportunities

Safety & Traffic Control

  • Enforce compliance with all safety rules and regulations, including OSHA and MUTCD standards
  • Ensure all employees wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Place, monitor, move, and recover temporary traffic control signage and devices
  • Immediately correct unsafe behaviors or conditions

Training, Workforce Development & HR Support

  • Train new employees in safe and efficient work practices
  • Coach, mentor, and support employee development
  • Conduct interviews as staffing needs arise
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Human Resources during onboarding
  • Assist with I9 document collection and digital onboarding processes
  • Support IBS’s fair chance employment mission while maintaining accountability and professionalism

Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities

  • Submit daily operational summaries and reports to the Area Operations Manager
  • Maintain inspection logs, performance documentation, and crew time records
  • Track and report requested metrics accurately
  • Maintain vehicle logs and coordinate equipment readiness and maintenance needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
