The Work

The Fall Indigenous Intern, Securitization & Indigenous Initiatives, will support the Concentra Bank – Credit Union Securitization team by assisting with day-to-day operational activities, document management, and key compliance initiatives.

This role is designed for a student in the Business Administration program (preferably from the First Nations University of Canada) seeking hands-on experience in financial services, contract management, and Indigenous-focused corporate initiatives.

The intern will contribute to improving operational efficiency, supporting audit readiness, and advancing the bank’s Truth & Reconciliation commitments through participation in the Indigenous Employee Resource Group (ERG).

Securitization Operations Support (50%)

  • Assist the Securitization team with administrative and operational tasks supporting credit union client activities.
  • Support preparation, tracking, and organization of monthly reporting deliverables.
  • Help maintain internal records and ensure data accuracy across reporting tools and systems.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation related to securitization transactions and client interactions.
  • Collaborate with team members to support timely delivery of client requirements and internal deadlines.

Legal Agreements, Compliance & Data Privacy Project (25%)

  • Organize and maintain legal contracts and fee pricing letters for credit union partners.
  • Validate that monthly reporting and administrative fees align with executed contracts and pricing agreements to support audit readiness.
  • Assist with implementation of new Data Privacy policy schedules across all partner agreements.
  • Coordinate outreach to approximately 25 credit union partners to facilitate agreement re-signing via Docusign.
  • Track signing status, maintain communication logs, and ensure completion of required documentation.
  • Support document retention practices and ensure records are properly stored for legal and audit purposes.

Indigenous ERG & Truth and Reconciliation Initiatives (25%)

  • Act as a contributor and thought partner within the bank’s Indigenous Employee Resource Group (ERG).
  • Support the development and promotion of initiatives aligned with the Truth & Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action.
  • Assist in identifying and recommending educational opportunities for employees, including integration of external learning (e.g., University of Alberta Indigenous education course) into EQ University.
  • Contribute ideas and materials to raise awareness and understanding of Truth & Reconciliation within the organization.
  • Support planning of internal events, communications, and learning initiatives related to Indigenous awareness.

  • Currently enrolled in a Business Administration program, preferably at the First Nations University of Canada or a similar institution.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage professionally with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a structured environment.
  • Interest in financial services, compliance, or contract management is an asset.
  • Interest in Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, and community initiatives is highly valued.
