Indirect Buyer

The Category Buyer will manage indirect material in support of Tool Crib operations. Engage with customers to make sure all of their requirements are being met. Conduct request for information (RFI) and request for quotation (RFQ) as required. Timely management of customer requisitions and execution of purchase orders. The Buyer is a strong team player, results oriented, has a dedication to excellence and a sense of urgency to achieve business objectives.

Position Responsibilities may include;

  • Responsible for providing a list of recommended suppliers and obtaining quotes for requestors.
  • Timely execution of purchase orders associated with Coupa requisitions, manual requisitions and ENG request.
  • Upon requisition completion, follows up with customers
  • Negotiations
  • Ensure invoices are processed within Accounts Payable.
  • Maintain preferred supplier list.
  • Inventory management.
  • Cycle counting as needed
  • Perform addition duties as requested.

Nature & Scope:

  • Develops and implements strategic plans and objectives for the department/sub-function in an effective and innovative fashion
  • Understands the business and can put together comprehensive department solutions
  • Works with other leaders to establish strategic plans and works towards achieving them
  • Provides leadership and direction to managers in their respective division/department
  • Sees to department staffing needs (e.g. interviewing, hiring, new hire and ongoing training, annual evaluations, etc.)
  • Participates in budget development and monitoring of expenses
  • Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Familiarity with Coupa or other Indirect EDI is preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Office – Outlook, Word & Excel
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with internal and external customers and vendors
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities including attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Professional business acumen
  • Collaboration: Experience interacting with cross functional team including Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, HR, IT, Finance
  • Ability to use good judgement and strong work ethics and integrity on the job.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Competency:

Experience:

  • 5 plus years of buyer experience, preferably in MRO

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; preferably in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or related field

People Management: No
