Compensation Details: $130,000 - $170,000
The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for this position. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, the geographic market of that location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education and internal peer compensation comparisons among other potential factors
Position Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Indirect Category Manager to lead procurement and supplier management efforts across critical indirect spend categories. This role will focus on driving value, cost optimization, and operational efficiency within categories including CAPEX, Energy, Staffing/Contingent Labor, Equipment Rentals and Purchases, and Industrial Equipment Maintenance.
The ideal candidate brings strong sourcing expertise within industrial, manufacturing, logistics, or multi-site operational environments and can effectively partner with internal stakeholders to deliver strategic sourcing outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end sourcing activities for indirect categories, including:
Energy (utilities, fuel, renewable/sustainability initiatives)
Staffing and contingent labor services
Equipment rentals, leasing, and capital/operational purchases
Lead supplier negotiations and manage complex, multi-year relationships to enable long-term business objectives.
Collaborate with global supply chain, plant operations, engineering, and corporate leaders to align sourcing strategies with business goals.
Drive cost savings initiatives, total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization, and supplier risk mitigation.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, service levels, and supplier performance
Identify and onboard qualified suppliers; manage RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, driving continuous improvement and accountability through performance metrics
Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Facilities, and Maintenance teams to align sourcing strategies with business needs
Analyze spend data and market trends to identify savings opportunities and process improvements
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contracts, and risk management protocols
Support budgeting and forecasting efforts related to indirect spend categories
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5–10 years of experience in Capex sourcing within a manufacturing or industrial environment
Demonstrated experience sourcing within one or more of the following categories:
Energy (utilities/fuel)
Staffing / contingent labor
Strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract management skills
Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, logistics, or multi-site environments
Proven ability to analyze spend data and translate insights into actionable sourcing strategies
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing multiple indirect spend categories simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with supplier markets related to industrial equipment, labor staffing firms, or energy procurement
Experience with procurement systems, ERP platforms, or spend analytics tools
Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, or equivalent
