About the Role
The Indirect Taxation Analyst will provide strategic tax advisory support across the Company's entities, particularly on contracts and transactions with indirect tax implications.
The role will involve managing indirect tax compliance, coordinating tax audits, liaising with government and regulatory authorities, reviewing tax clauses in contracts, and ensuring the Company's tax obligations are accurately fulfilled within statutory deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advisory support to Company departments and entities on contracts and transactions involving indirect tax implications.
- Design and maintain the Company's Indirect Tax Matrix in line with new legal and fiscal developments.
- Review tax clauses in contracts and make recommendations to the Contracts and technical teams.
- Coordinate periodic external audits, including NEITI, NRS, SIRS, NDDC, and other relevant authorities.
- Liaise with NUPRC, NDDC, NRS, and other regulatory authorities regarding the Company's fiscal obligations.
- Manage documentation, monetary transfers, and remittance evidence for taxes and levies payable to Federal and State Governments.
- Provide guidance to HR on the computation and timely payment of staff income taxes.
- Supervise the preparation and filing of VAT and WHT returns to the NRS and SIRS.
- Prepare responses to queries arising from tax returns and tax audits.
- Oversee the updating of vendor master data and payment of indirect taxes within statutory deadlines.
- Support the Treasury Department with optimal utilization of funds relating to tax obligations.
- Apply for Tax Clearance Certificates (TCC) for all Company entities and respond to queries from relevant tax authorities.
- Manage tax-related relationships with vendors, including WHT Credit Notes.
- Retrieve, organize, and maintain records of revenue receipts issued by relevant tax authorities and government agencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 6 years' post-graduation experience in tax and accounting functions.
- Professional accounting certification such as ICAN or ACCA.
- Thorough knowledge of Federal and State tax laws, tax treaties, and Multilateral Tax Agreements.
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to interpret Nigerian tax laws.
- Experience handling tax compliance, audits, VAT, WHT, and regulatory interactions.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to plan and coordinate work with minimal supervision.
- Good temperament and interpersonal skills for working with government agencies.
- Excellent English language proficiency (C2 level).
