Industrial Data & Software Engineer
Summary
Builds and maintains data pipelines, ETL and analysis software for Thales' industrial/manufacturing operations — writing Python and JavaScript, working with SQL/NoSQL databases on Linux, and connecting shop-floor systems via protocols like MQTT.
Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year
Requirements:- Strong Python and JavaScript programming skills
- Experience building data pipelines and ETL solutions
- SQL and NoSQL database experience
- Statistical analysis experience within a manufacturing environment
- Linux/Unix experience
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
- A relevant technical degree, such as Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Experience with MQTT, OPC UA, TCP/IP, machine learning/AI, C++, Digital Twins, MATLAB, Minitab, Simulink, WITNESS or Lean Six Sigma is an advantage
- Build and automate data pipelines and ETL workflows using tools such as Node-RED
- Design and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases for industrial data
- Develop dashboards and analytics to improve manufacturing performance
- Use Python, JavaScript and statistical analysis to identify inefficiencies and support process improvement
- Support IoT, machine monitoring, smart tooling and predictive maintenance solutions
- Work with engineering and operational teams to take solutions from requirements through to deployment
