Industrial Electronics Engineering Technology Instructor

Northwest Mississippi Community College seeks a full-time, 10-month instructor for the Industrial Electronics Engineering Technology program located on the Senatobia Campus. The selected instructor will provide excellent instruction, foster a professional learning environment, and support the college’s reputation for producing highly qualified graduates prepared for employment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful work experience within the last five (5) years in:
    • Industrial maintenance
    • Industrial automation
    • Industrial controls
  • Ability to demonstrate successful experience in:
    • Electron theory
    • Industrial mechanical systems
    • Industrial electrical systems
    • Industrial fluid power applications
    • Various programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
    • Various industrial automation applications
  • Demonstrated:
    • Professional demeanor
    • Positive contributions to a team
    • Desire for continuous improvement
  • Associate of Applied Science degree in:
    • Industrial Electronics Engineering Technology
    • Or a directly related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Baccalaureate degree in:
    • Industrial Electronics
    • Or a closely related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful work experience in:
    • Industrial maintenance
    • Industrial automation
    • Industrial controls

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure all requirements of college and industry partners are met
  2. Maintain professionalism with students, coworkers, and community members
  3. Provide engaging classroom instruction using varied teaching methods
  4. Prepare lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory demonstrations
  5. Recommend curriculum updates to maintain program relevance
  6. Monitor student progress throughout the program
  7. Collaborate with instructors and support staff
  8. Participate in professional development activities
  9. Maintain compliance with professional licensing requirements
  10. Teach course material according to syllabus and employer expectations
  11. Prepare and grade examinations and assignments in a timely manner
  12. Implement outcomes assessment and maintain student satisfaction standards
  13. Encourage student retention and engagement
  14. Begin and end classes on schedule with full instructional periods
  15. Maintain attendance, grades, and required records accurately
  16. Submit reports required by the College, Mississippi Community College Board, and employer partners
  17. Attend faculty meetings, in-service meetings, and college events
  18. Participate in campus and community extracurricular activities
  19. Supervise laboratory experiences
  20. Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment
  21. Maintain inventory of assigned equipment and tools
  22. Maintain an active advisory committee with at least two meetings annually
  23. Visit industry partners to maintain employer relationships and monitor internships
  24. Advise and counsel students
  25. Assist students with employment placement
  26. Serve on faculty committees
  27. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Directorin support of the College mission

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this position, the instructor will regularly:

  • Stand for extended periods
  • Talk, hear, view, and assist students
  • Communicate in person, by telephone, Zoom, email, and live chat
  • Sit, use hands, and reach with hands and arms
  • Stand, walk, stoop, and kneel
  • Occasionally lift and/or move items weighing 15–20 pounds
