Position Description
The Industrial Engineer will drive operational efficiency, process design, and continuous improvement across manufacturing and supporting operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a high volume, growth-oriented environment and is ready to take ownership of mid-sized projects with moderate supervision. This role will drive process improvement through quantitative assessment of current production performance and execute change to improve quality, reduce cost, optimize throughput, and develop manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, and optimize manufacturing and logistics processes to improve throughput, productivity, and resource utilization.
- Deploy Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies in a high-mix, engineered equipment manufacturing environment.
- Conduct time studies, define manufacturing costs, and develop standard work and manufacturing documentation (Work Instructions, Operational Method Sheets, routings, etc.). Audit and ensure sustainment of standards.
- Support manufacturing system design, including line layout, takt time development, staffing models, and capacity planning for production.
- Participate in new equipment installation, factory layout planning, and production readiness activities.
- Create and maintain Value Stream Maps and manufacturing plant layouts.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles like Kaizen, 8-Waste Reduction, Visual Management, SMED, One piece flow, A3 and 8D problem-solving, 5S, TPM principles etc. while working on process improvement projects.
- Lead the identification, scoping, and execution of projects to improve production efficiency and throughput, in collaboration with supervisors, area managers, engineers, and other team members.
- Initiate, lead, and provide training required to effectively complete improvement efforts.
- Review manufacturing defects and rework to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify problems, analyze data, and execute process improvements to drive safety, workplace ergonomics, coating quality, operational performance, capital utilization, demand attainment, warehousing, and logistics strategies.
- Resource Allocation: Optimize staffing levels, equipment utilization, and resource allocation to align with production goals.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize data analysis to make informed decisions and continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements.
- Partner with manufacturing area managers and supervisors to sustain improvements.
- Participate in MDI (Manage for Daily Improvement) activities that include daily communication meetings, department performance monitoring and problem solving.
- Develop and maintain positive work relationships with individuals in all organizational levels, both internally and externally to the plant.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, IT, Supply Chain, and Quality to implement scalable, production-ready solutions.
