We Make Life More Rewarding and Dignified
Location: Stuarts Draft
Department:
Summary
Contribute to the profitability, continuity, and growth of Hollister by identifying and delivering manufacturing process improvements that reduce waste, improve material utilization, and lower material usage variance (MUV). Use data analytics, direct process observation, and industrial engineering methods to uncover opportunities, determine root causes, prioritize actions, and verify sustained results. Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other functions to implement practical, cost-effective solutions that improve process capability, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
Salary Range depending on education & experience from $65,000-$100,000
Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Improvement, Waste Reduction, and Data Analytics:
• Analyze production, material consumption, scrap, yield, downtime, quality, and cost data to identify and quantify opportunities to reduce waste and material usage variance (MUV).
• Develop dashboards, reports, and repeatable analytical methods that make losses visible by product, machine, process, shift, material, and time period.
• Establish reliable baselines, targets, and benefit-tracking methods for waste and MUV improvement initiatives.
• Use statistical analysis, trend analysis, process capability, Pareto analysis, and other problem-solving tools to distinguish normal variation from actionable process losses.
• Validate data accuracy and reconcile production-system, material-consumption, inventory, and shop-floor information before recommending actions.
Opportunity Identification, Prioritization, and Execution
• Translate analytical findings into a prioritized pipeline of improvement opportunities based on financial impact, feasibility, risk, and expected operational benefit.
• Personally own and lead a defined portfolio of prioritized waste- and MUV-reduction projects each year, carrying selected opportunities from initial analysis and business case development through implementation, cross-functional coordination, and verification of sustained results.
• Evaluate bills of material, standard usage, process parameters, routings, and actual consumption to determine drivers of unfavorable MUV and recommend corrective actions.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve chronic losses while meeting safety, quality, ergonomic, and regulatory requirements.
Implementation and Sustainment
• Lead trials and projects from problem definition through implementation, change control, training, and verification of results.
• Quantify realized savings and establish controls that sustain improvements in waste, MUV, yield, labor, capacity, or cost.
• Communicate priorities, recommendations, risks, and verified results through concise reports, presentations, and dashboards.
• Manage change controls and small capital or expense projects that enable measurable waste and MUV reduction while meeting quality and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions of the Role
• Demonstrated ability to analyze manufacturing data and convert findings into measurable process improvements.
• Proficiency with Excel and data visualization or statistical tools such as Power BI, SQL, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience analyzing scrap, yield, MUV, standard-versus-actual usage, cost variance, OEE, and process capability.
• Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, bills of material, routings, inventory transactions, and controlled manufacturing requirements.
• Ability to build business cases, lead cross-functional projects, communicate effectively, and verify sustained financial and operational results.
Work Experience Requirements
• Number of Overall Years Necessary: Entry Level and above.
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred, particularly experience delivering measurable reductions in scrap, material usage variance, yield loss, or other conversion-cost drivers through data-based process improvement.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/ Industrial engineering is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with Associate’s Degree/Technical Certification in Mechanical/Electrical/ Industrial engineering would be considered.
Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data modeling, pivot tables, trend analysis, and visualization
• Power BI, SQL, statistical software, or equivalent data-analysis experience
• Manufacturing cost, material usage variance, scrap, yield, and standard-versus-actual consumption analysis
• Statistical process control, process capability analysis, measurement system analysis, and designed experiments
• Lean or Six Sigma certification or demonstrated application of equivalent methods
• Experience with manufacturing execution, ERP, process-performance tracking, or data-historian systems as sources for analysis
• Project management experience or Project Management Professional certification
• Experience with automated manufacturing equipment, controls, vision systems, robotics, web or film handling, or heat-sealing processes is beneficial
