Good Faith Pay Range: In accordance with Virginia law, the good-faith pay range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, skills, and other legitimate business factors.

Overview:

The Industrial Safety Instructor & Coordinator is a faculty role responsible for delivering instruction within an assigned program (e.g., Industrial Maintenance or related technical programs) while supporting campus-wide safety initiatives. This position carries a reduced teaching load to allow dedicated time for coordinating safety practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of safety across ATI. The role integrates safety leadership with instruction to ensure students graduate with strong technical and workplace safety competencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses within an assigned ATI program in alignment with curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Design and deliver safety-related instruction relevant to programs offered by ATI.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders and teaching staff to integrate safety best practices into hands-on lab and shop environments.
  • Develop, update, and maintain safety training materials aligned with industry standards and employer expectations.
  • Oversee campus safety policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments of labs, classrooms, and common areas.
  • Lead incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action processes.
  • Coordinate and facilitate emergency preparedness efforts, including drills (fire, evacuation, lockdown, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, certifications, incidents, and compliance activities.
  • Support faculty and staff in implementing and reinforcing safety standards within their programs.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through ongoing training, communication, and awareness initiatives.
  • Assist in ensuring proper use, storage, and handling of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
  • Participate in industry engagement activities to stay current with evolving safety standards and workforce expectations.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in occupational safety, industrial maintenance, skilled trades, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior teaching, training, or instructional experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in OSHA compliance, safety audits, or workplace safety programs required.

Education:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.

Certifications (Required):

  • OSHA Outreach Trainer (General Industry) required or ability to obtain within 6–12 months
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certification (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe)
