Job description
Overview
- A Sorter Operator is an individual who aids plant staff in preparing material for processing, baling, inventorying, and shipment.
- A Sorter is familiar or can become familiar with a fast-paced manufacturing environment and works safely.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Segregating various materials including cardboard, paper, plastic, and aluminum in a fast-paced environment.
- Keeping the plant and areas clean of debris.
- Cleans equipment a needed.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Must be flexible
Skills and Specifications
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to stand for eight or more hours with the occasional need to bend or squat.
- Ability to operate in a high speed and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift to 75 pounds repeatedly.
- Able to follow instructions as directed by the supervisor.
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
Education and Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- GA/NC/VA driver's license preferred
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with this position.
- Knowledge and experience in an industrial environment.
- OSHA or other related safety training is also an advantage.
