Summary

Oversee hospital infection control: track, investigate, and report infections, enforce prevention policies, and train staff on safety protocols.

Full Time, Days

The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. The IP serves as a subject matter expert, collaborating with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention requirements. The designated person will be given the authority to implement and enforce the Surveillance, Prevention and Control Program policies, coordinate all infection prevention and control within the hospital and facilitate ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of prevention and/or control activities and interventions.

Educational and Certification Requirements
Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field. Masters of Public Health is preferred.


Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (i.e., CIC preferred) or, attainment within 2 years after employment required; and maintains Certification.


Preferred Experience:
Minimum one year of experience in Infection Prevention and
Minimum one year of experience in an acute care setting

License:

RN Licensure Preferred
