Information Architect - Senior

Summary

The Senior Information Architect will lead the design and implementation of complex, large-scale information, business, and data architectures for government initiatives. The role involves utilizing cloud-native technologies, AI-enabled data analysis, and Azure-based systems while ensuring compliance with public sector governance and standards.

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Information Architect to provide information architecture, business architecture, data architecture, and enterprise architecture expertise for complex, large-scale government initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, enterprise architects, technical teams, security, privacy, and accessibility stakeholders to develop and implement architecture solutions that align with organizational strategy, governance requirements, and Target State Architecture.
This role requires strong experience in information architecture, data modelling, cloud-native architecture, AI-enabled data analysis, public sector architecture governance, and enterprise-scale systems design.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert information architecture interpretation, advice, and guidance to project and enterprise-level I&IT teams.
  • Provide business architecture advice focused on business domains, goals, processes, information, roles, responsibilities, locations, events, and alignment with overall business strategy.
  • Lead and contribute to the development and implementation of application and database architectures.
  • Develop architectural artefacts and deliverables required to successfully progress through project and enterprise architecture governance and review processes.
  • Lead complex application architecture reviews, assessments, development, and support activities for enterprise initiatives.
  • Facilitate discussions with multiple stakeholders, including business, technical, security, privacy, and accessibility teams.
  • Develop and maintain information models, data models, architecture standards, and supporting documentation.
  • Design solutions supporting modular and composable application architecture and omni-channel delivery of government services.
  • Provide architecture expertise for large, integrated, and complex systems environments.
  • Support cloud solution design, including infrastructure design, cloud subscriptions, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Design and support microservices, RESTful APIs, API management, and Azure-based application architectures.
  • Define approaches for data ingestion based on consumption requirements and support the implementation and adoption of data mesh architectures.
  • Apply structured methodologies throughout the design, development, and implementation lifecycle.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and architectural approaches to support strategic technology decisions.
  • Ensure architecture solutions align with applicable public sector governance, standards, policies, and enterprise architecture requirements.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
Information Architecture and Business Architecture
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in the development and implementation of applications and databases.
  • Demonstrated experience providing information architecture interpretation, advice, and expertise to project-level and/or enterprise-level I&IT teams.
  • Demonstrated experience providing business architecture advice, including analysis of:
    • Business domains
    • Business goals and strategy
    • Business processes
    • Information and data
    • Roles and responsibilities
    • Locations and events
    • Alignment with organizational and business strategy
  • Experience developing architectural artefacts required to successfully progress through project review and governance checkpoints.
  • Previous leadership experience conducting complex application architecture reviews, assessments, development, and support activities for enterprise initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Information Architecture, Data Modelling, and BI Analytics.
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design within large, integrated systems environments.
Architecture and Technical Skills
  • Experience designing modular and composable application architectures.
  • Experience supporting omni-channel delivery of government services.
  • Solid experience in cloud solution design, including infrastructure design and cloud subscriptions.
  • Strong experience with cloud-native architecture, including:
    • Microservices architecture
    • RESTful APIs
    • API Management
    • Azure App Services or similar cloud-native technologies
  • Experience designing applications and architectures supporting highly sensitive data.
  • Experience with data ingestion based on consumption requirements.
  • Experience with the implementation and adoption of data mesh architectures for data storage and management.
  • Experience with structured methodologies for the design, development, and implementation of applications.
  • Experience using architecture design, cloud management, DevOps, and collaboration tools.


Requirements

CASE Tools and Architecture Tools
Demonstrated experience using Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) and architecture design tools, including:
  • PowerDesigner
  • Microsoft Visio
  • DevOps and cloud management tools
  • Other architecture modelling and collaboration tools
AI and Data Analytics – Mandatory
Demonstrated experience using Artificial Intelligence for data analysis, combining traditional data analysis practices with modern AI-centric capabilities, including:
  • Prompt Engineering – effectively communicating with AI tools to generate meaningful analysis, insights, and outcomes.
  • Machine Learning Literacy – understanding machine learning concepts, including prediction and pattern recognition, and determining appropriate use cases.
  • Automation Mastery – using AI to automate data collection, data cleaning, ETL processes, and workflow development.
  • Generative AI for Analytics – leveraging generative AI to accelerate summarization, initial data exploration, analysis, and insight generation.
Public Sector and Enterprise Architecture Experience – Mandatory
  • Experience with Public Sector enterprise architecture governance, committees, processes, and review mechanisms.
  • Experience working with Target State Architecture (TSA).
  • Experience with Public Sector GO-ITS standards.
  • Experience developing and supporting standards-based architecture deliverables and artefacts.
  • Knowledge and experience with applicable information modelling standards and frameworks, including:
    • Information Modeling Standards
    • Information Modeling Handbook (IMH)
    • Common Data Elements Model – Party LDM
    • Common Data Elements Model – Address LDM
    • Common Address Data Usage Patterns – LDM
  • Experience supporting OPS or comparable public sector governance and architecture processes.
