INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST

Summary

Oversee classification, safeguarding, and destruction of sensitive/classified data, train personnel, and lead security incident inquiries for a U.S. Navy command.

You will serve as an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Division (Code C1110), Infrastructure Management Division (1100B), Corporate Operations Department (Code 1100) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

You will serve as Subject Matter Expert on the classification, declassification, and safeguarding of controlled unclassified information, sensitive and classified information within the Command and associated areas.

You will be responsible for supporting and sustaining all matters pertaining to classification and safeguarding. transmission, and destruction of unclassified and classified information.

You will prevent the improper handling of sensitive, unclassified data and provide targeted training and remediation for personnel who demonstrate deficiencies in proper marking procedures.

You will supervise the command's classified material destruction program, ensuring all materials are destroyed using authorized equipment and methods and will maintain all required destruction logs and records.

You will assist in formulating, coordinating, and conducting the command Security Education and Training Awareness (SETA).

You will assist with Office of Inspector General (OIG) audits, inspections, and investigations, and will lead the preliminary inquiry into any potential security incidents or violations, such as spillage or unsecured classified material.
