Plans, organizes, directs and controls activities of assigned staff with the goal of meeting the information system needs of department customers. Participates with upper management in establishing direction for the department. Manages the Microsoft Windows server and SQL Server environment supporting faculty and staff access to research study data, while directing the staff and strategic planning necessary to meet the information system needs of end-users across the department. Balances hands-on technical ownership with supervisory and budgetary responsibility, and represents IT priorities in discussions with upper management.

Essential Duties

  • Manages the Microsoft Windows server and Microsoft SQL Server environment supporting research study data access.
  • Works with departmental administrators to create user accounts and assign appropriate security controls.
  • Provides technical assistance for VPN and remote desktop issues.
  • Directs installation and maintenance of server software, database administration, and security/failure recovery.
  • Monitors system load and throughput to guide system tuning and capacity planning.
  • Ensures production and training environments conform to department standards. Leadership strategy
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities of assigned staff to meet end-user information system needs.
  • Performs supervisory functions, including mentoring and developing staff and promoting a collaborative, service-oriented environment.
  • Participates with upper management in establishing department direction.
  • Tracks budgets, forecasts costs, and performs cost analysis related to software systems.
  • Leads software implementation efforts and manages change across diverse user groups.
  • Evaluates new technologies and recommends solutions aligned with organizational needs and resources.

Salary Range\: $67,070 - $108,990
