Information Systems Security Engineer

Summary

Designs, implements, and evaluates secure computing/networking environments for government systems, applying IA policies, RMF, and security best practices to ensure resilient, compliant architectures while collaborating with stakeholders.

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our team in the Fort Meade, Maryland area.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate as a primary security engineering representative on integrated teams for the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  • Design, develop, implement, and evaluate Information Assurance (IA) architectures, systems, and system components.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of Information Assurance policy, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and security engineering best practices to build resilient secure computing environments.
  • Interact directly with customer stakeholders and multi-disciplinary project team members to drive security alignment throughout the system engineering lifecycle.
  • Support the Government in enforcing the design and implementation of trusted relationships among external systems and architectures.
  • Provide comprehensive security planning, vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and risk management while identifying overall security requirements for Government data.
  • Perform system and network designs across multiple enclaves and recommend robust solutions to resolve complex security requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (4 years of additional ISSE experience may substitute for a degree).
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) or in related information security or engineering roles.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST guidelines) and guiding systems through review boards.
  • Practical experience or familiarity with data protection methods, identity management, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), or cryptography.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
