Summary

Front-line IT support specialist at a community health center in Cashton, WI, helping staff use EHR and other clinical, administrative, and business applications — handling user accounts, troubleshooting, documentation, testing, and training. Focused on application support (Microsoft 365, HIPAA compliance) rather than network or hardware work.

Scenic Bluffs Community Health Center is looking to hire a full-time Information Systems Support Specialist.

The Information Systems Support Specialist provides responsive, front-line support for the information systems used across Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers. This entry- to mid-level position helps employees use clinical, administrative, and business applications effectively; resolves routine access, configuration, and workflow issues; and supports reliable, secure use of organizational information.

Working under the direction of the Director of Information Systems and in collaboration with the IT Support Specialist, Clinical Applications Analyst, Reporting Analyst, and external vendors, the Specialist assists with user support, account administration, system maintenance, documentation, testing, training, and implementation activities. The position focuses on application and information-system support rather than primary responsibility for network infrastructure or hardware.

Essential Responsibilities

Information Systems & User Support

• Serve as a point of contact for staff questions and service requests involving EHR and other clinical, administrative, and business information systems; document, prioritize, resolve, or escalate requests through established support processes.

• Troubleshoot routine application, login, permissions, data-entry, and workflow issues, collaborating with other team members as needed for complex problems.

• Assist with user account setup, role-based access changes, and deactivation in accordance with approved authorization and security procedures.

• Provide individual and small-group instruction, job aids, and practical guidance to help staff use supported systems correctly and efficiently.

Applications, Data & Process Support

• Assist with routine application configuration, updates, testing, validation, and maintenance under established change-control procedures.

• Support data quality by identifying inconsistent or incomplete information, helping staff correct source-system errors within their authority, and referring reporting or data-integrity issues to the appropriate team member.

• Maintain accurate documentation of system procedures, user instructions, issue resolutions, access requests, and recurring support needs.

• Help identify common application or workflow problems and recommend practical improvements to the Director and relevant clinical or operational leaders.

Projects, Coordination & Security

• Participate in information systems implementations, upgrades, integrations, and improvement projects through testing, staff communication, training, rollout assistance, and post-implementation support.

• Coordinate with IT staff and vendors when application issues involve devices, connectivity, interfaces, or other infrastructure; communicate progress and follow through with users.

• Protect confidential information and comply with HIPAA, organizational security policies, approved access controls, and incident-reporting procedures; promptly report suspected privacy or security concerns.

• Perform other related duties and support department priorities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Associate degree in information systems, health information technology, computer science, business technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. One to three years of experience supporting business or clinical applications, help desk services, electronic records, or related information systems preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting, FQHC, or electronic health record environment preferred.

Skills

• Strong customer service, troubleshooting, communication, organization, and follow-through skills; ability to explain technical issues clearly to nontechnical users.

• Comfort using Microsoft 365 and learning multiple clinical and business applications; familiarity with user access management, support ticketing, and basic data-quality practices.

• Ability to manage competing requests, recognize when to escalate, follow documented procedures, and maintain confidentiality and attention to detail.

• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical, operational, and administrative staff across multiple locations.
