Infrastructure Administrator
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Alignment of Infrastructure Unit with IT Strategy
- Monitor / manage virtual Infrastructure
- Optimizing compute resources – Hosts, Virtual Machines, Storage
- Onsite virtual machines backup and recovery
- Ensuring OEM recommended updates are applied to ensure virtual infrastructure is completely in compliance and secured
- Managing storage infrastructure and SAN fabric
- HP Storage and expansions, EMC VNX Unified storage, NetApp FAS, and IBM Storage
- Managing and monitoring Disaster & Recovery site resources for business continuity
- A key resource in the Disaster Recovery process
- Ensuring business-critical servers are replicated within acceptable RPO & RTO with the provision of daily reports on replication and link status
- Ensuring business continuity testing is carried out in accordance with IT policy
- Day-to-day on-call administration and support of on-premise exchange servers, databases, and archiving of mailboxes as set in our IT policy
- Network management, monitoring, and optimization
- Preventive Server and Workstation maintenance
- Ensure availability, reliability, and optimal performance of all physical servers
- Ensuring all hardware are under support and warranty cover
- Ensure redundancy is completely built into the system to eliminate service failure
- Report and prepare strategies to maintain server infrastructure
- Management of infrastructure at remote branch office
- Sourcing & purchasing of hardware/replacement parts and consumables
- To serve as a contact for suppliers, vendors, and service providers
- To conduct product evaluations of upgraded or new hardware and software identifying strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits and recommend purchases
- Vendor Management, review of contracts, and enforcement of policy
- Managing Information Technology CMDB and coordinating the distribution of equipment
- Datacentre Management & Environmental monitoring
- Ensuring the datacentre meets approved standards
- Enforcing proper onboarding of equipment
- Enforcing approved security policies.
- Datacentre general infrastructure management including racking, cabling, organization, and other daily practices
- University degree in the field of computer science, engineering, or information systems
- Holds VMWare Certified Professional certification
- Holds Network related certification
- Any of the following Microsoft certification preferred: Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of hypervisors (preferably Windows Hyper-V or VMware’s ESX/ ESXi, VMware vCenter server management)
- Configure, test, and maintain LAN equipment and services, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems including network connectivity, traffic utilization, etc. using available network tools in a timely fashion
- Hands-on experience with storage technologies iSCSI, FC, and storage devices NAS/SAN
- Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and Office System is required
- Standard system administration duties including server install, System/Application install, and patch management, Windows problem determination, and resolution, log analysis, etc.
- Participate in the creation, maintenance, testing, and execution of the Disaster Recovery plan
- Create, request, and present technical specifications and requirements for purchasing new servers and networking equipment via quote procedure
- At least 3 years experience in business analysis or related field
- Writing of business functional and non-functional requirement documents and business cases
- Experience in understanding user needs and a business outcome approach
- Experience in testing
- Experience working with senior decision-makers
