This is an opportunity to play a key role in the safe, compliant and effective management of infrastructure at DM Crombie. Reporting to the Infrastructure Lead, you will coordinate maintenance and estate activity, support infrastructure assurance, and work collaboratively with site stakeholders and delivery partners to resolve issues affecting operational capability.
Job description
Join us as an Infrastructure and Facilities Coordinator based at Defence Munitions Beith. The establishment plays an important role in supporting Defence outputs through the safe storage, maintenance and distribution of munitions and associated capabilities. In this varied role, you will be at the heart of infrastructure operations at DM Beith. You will help ensure that the estate remains safe, compliant and capable of supporting operational requirements. You will provide advice and coordination across day-to-day maintenance, facilities management and longer-term estate improvements. You will also support local assurance of statutory and mandatory maintenance by reviewing available records and identifying gaps or exceptions.
The successful candidate must be able to safely access all relevant operational and estate areas across the site, including woodland, locations with uneven terrain and small spaces. While the role is not primarily physically demanding, it requires a suitable level of mobility, agility and resilience to undertake inspections and other infrastructure oversight activities outdoors in variable and occasionally adverse weather conditions. The successful candidate must therefore be able to undertake these activities safely, with reasonable adjustments considered where appropriate. Once established in the role, travel to other MOD sites to conduct similar activities may be required.
As a valued member of the Infrastructure Management Team, you will act as a key interface between site users, building custodians, site leadership, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), industry partners and contractors. You will help establish priorities, coordinate delivery and support the timely resolution and escalation of infrastructure issues.
It would be desirable for candidates to hold, or be working towards, a relevant infrastructure, property or facilities management qualification, such as an IWFM qualification, or professional membership of a relevant body such as RICS. We are committed to helping you grow professionally and will actively support you in gaining a recognised qualification in infrastructure, property or facilities management. Full training will be provided on MOD-specific infrastructure processes, systems and terminology.
You'll enjoy a schedule that gives you Friday afternoons free: Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30 and Friday: 08:00 - 13:00. The postholder will normally be expected to work from an MOD workplace for minimum 60% of their working time, to coordinate infrastructure, maintenance and facilities activity, support local assurance, and respond to emerging operational issues. More frequent workplace attendance may be required during initial training, familiarisation and probation. The site location is Defence Munitions Beith, Ayrshire KA15 1JT, and successful candidates will need reliable personal transport to travel to and from work.
What you’ll be doing
- Planning and coordinating infrastructure works at DM Beith, including maintenance, estate services and wider facilities management activities.
- Coordinating reactive maintenance issues with building custodians, DIO and infrastructure delivery partners, ensuring faults are reported through the appropriate route and subsequently monitored, progressed and escalated where necessary.
Supporting local assurance of statutory and mandatory maintenance by reviewing available records and identifying gaps, overdue activity or other exceptions.
Preparing for weekly infrastructure meetings and Site Infrastructure Management Meetings, maintaining action logs and following agreed actions through to completion.
Maintaining infrastructure risk, issue, asset-availability and escalation records and producing accurate management information.
Supporting the development and review of Statements of Need, scopes and site requirements, ensuring operational dependencies and constraints are accurately captured.
Supporting infrastructure projects and estate improvements through local stakeholder engagement, access coordination, site familiarisation and operational deconfliction.
Supporting service improvement by monitoring performance, tracking responses and agreed actions through established governance routes, and keeping the Infrastructure Lead informed of emerging themes.
Supporting infrastructure inspections and condition reviews and ensuring identified defects are reported through the appropriate route.
Supporting annual infrastructure programmes, funding records and prioritisation activity by maintaining accurate site requirements and delivery information.
- Acting as the routine infrastructure point of contact for site users and building custodians at DM Beith.
