Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer
About the job
We are hiring a hands-on Mid-Level or Senior-Level Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer for our Kuala Lumpur office. You report to the CTO and build, run and troubleshoot cloud and production infrastructure — not a ticket-only or documentation-only seat.
You are expected to work independently and drive infrastructure and cloud ops — own day-to-day build, run and improve with the CTO’s direction, not wait to be tasked ticket by ticket.
You personally implement and operate Linux (Red Hat, Amazon Linux), networking, cloud (AWS and Huawei Cloud preferred), and day-to-day production support.
Full on-site, Monday–Friday at Sunway Tower, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. No hybrid or remote. Willing to support major incidents outside normal hours when production is at risk.
Key responsibilities
Infrastructure, cloud & production ops
Design scalable and secure infrastructure (small to large when it is needed)
Build, configure and operate cloud and on-premise infrastructure
Administer Linux systems, networking basics (DNS, load balancing, VPN, firewalls), storage and application hosting
Support AWS and Huawei Cloud workloads (compute, networking, IAM, storage) and hybrid setups
Help keep production systems available and healthy — monitoring, alerting, basic capacity checks
Troubleshoot production, cloud, network and Linux issues; escalate real risk early
Support backup, recovery drills and simple DR / BCP tasks
Help with Cloudflare DNS / CDN / WAF basics where we use them
Automation, IaC & AI
Own and control production — engineers do not deploy to production directly; any automated CD still needs Infra approval, and all production matters are managed by Infra
Implement Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform preferred; Ansible, Bash or Python welcome)
Use Claude Code (or comparable) and AI agents to ship IaC, runbooks and fixes faster — responsibly
Prefer build-or-script before buy when a commercial ops tool does not earn the cost
Keep change notes and runbooks clear so others can follow
Skills & experience required
About 2–3 years hands-on infrastructure, cloud, or systems / production ops — not theory-only
Practical Linux administration and networking troubleshooting
Hands-on with at least one major cloud (AWS and Huawei Cloud preferred)
Comfortable with Infrastructure as Code or strong scripting (Terraform preferred; Bash / Python welcome)
Experience with monitoring / alerting and day-to-day production support
Working knowledge of IAM, basic security hygiene, DNS, SSL/TLS and load balancing
Uses AI tools daily in your work
Can operate with limited supervision in a lean SME team
Aligned with the CTO; escalate clearly; finish work and verify it stuck
Willing to support major incidents outside normal hours when needed
Nice to have
Both AWS and Huawei Cloud
Hands-on with Claude Code or similar AI engineering tools to build infrastructure related tools/automation
Terraform and Ansible; GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD
Cloudflare; Nginx; MySQL / JVM basics
Prometheus, Grafana or similar observability
Relevant certs (AWS, Huawei Cloud, Linux, Terraform, networking) — practical results matter more than cert count
Prior SME or lean-team experience building infra without a large ops org
