Infrastructure Engineer (Contract, East)
Summary
Contract Infrastructure Engineer responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing RHEL/VMware environments, leading incident/problem/change management end-to-end, and using BASH/Python scripting to automate operations.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize a wide range of systems and infrastructure to ensure peak performance and availability.
- Act as the single point of contact for customers, coordinating seamlessly with internal teams to deliver fast, high-quality resolutions within SLAs.
- Lead incident and problem management end-to-end — from first alert to root cause analysis and permanent fix.
- Manage change, configuration, and implementation tasks across supported systems and products with precision and care.
- Conduct proactive and preventive maintenance.
- Work alongside senior engineers, manage local vendors, and support end-users during critical service cutovers.
- Use your scripting skills in BASH, Python, and PERL to streamline operations and eliminate repetitive work.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent
- At least 3 years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience
- Strong working knowledge of RHEL and VMware environments
- Experience with Incident, Problem, and Change Management (ITIL)
- Scripting proficiency in BASH and/or Python
- ITIL Foundation v3 Certification is a plus
- Unix/Linux and VMware Certifications is a plus
Good to Have:
- Experience with IBM MQ and enterprise middleware
- Familiarity with security tools such as QRadar, Nessus, or McAfee ePO
- Hands-on exposure to storage and backup platforms (DELL EMC, Veritas)
- Experience participating in DC failover testing
- Java debugging experience
