Infrastructure Engineer
Our client is a technology consulting company providing operational and engineering services to the high-tech sector. They support platform and infrastructure teams across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments, helping improve reliability, scalability, and operational performance.
The Role
Our client is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance business-critical infrastructure across data centre and cloud environments.
The role has a strong focus on Linux systems, networking, automation, infrastructure reliability, and Infrastructure as Code, using technologies such as Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform.
You will work closely with engineering teams and customers to troubleshoot production issues, automate operational processes, and maintain stable, scalable infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain critical infrastructure within highly available production environments.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and participate in incident response during service disruptions.
- Communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders during incidents and operational activities.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes and improve platform reliability.
- Develop and enhance internal tools that improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation covering environments, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting a 24/7 production environment.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience supporting production infrastructure in critical or high-availability environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on Linux administration experience across environments such as RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar Unix-based systems.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, load balancing, reverse proxies, and software-defined networking.
- 2+ years of experience using version control platforms such as Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
- 2+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code or configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
- Hands-on scripting and automation experience using Bash, Python, or similar languages.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other container technologies.
- Relevant certifications such as RHCE, CKA, or AWS certifications.
- Exposure to AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, and EKS.
