Infrastructure Engineer (RDS)
You build an internal Database-as-a-Service platform for PostgreSQL, writing Go or Python code to automate provisioning, connection pooling, failover, upgrades, and operations. You design for high availability, investigate system bottlenecks, build developer tooling, participate in on-call rotations, and create permanent infrastructure fixes.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop the internal DBaaS offering
- Automate the database lifecycle
- Design regional high availability and disaster recovery
- Investigate kernel, network, and database performance bottlenecks
- Build tooling for product engineering teams
- Participate in the on-call rotation
- Perform root-cause analysis and create permanent fixes
Requirements
- Deep understanding of Linux networking, file systems, and kernel tuning
- Understanding of distributed systems principles
- Proficiency in Go or Python
- Experience operating PostgreSQL or similar databases at scale
- Ability to perform root-cause analysis
- Experience building Kubernetes operators or custom controllers
- Experience with OpenStack or server fleets
- Familiarity with Ansible, Puppet, Vault, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK
