- Support and maintain enterprise infrastructure environments, including servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, networking equipment, and data center technologies.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, network, and systems issues affecting production environments.
- Install, configure, monitor, maintain, and upgrade infrastructure components to support availability, performance, security, and scalability.
- Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, and performance and proactively address potential risks or service disruptions.
- Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and infrastructure availability requirements.
- Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective-action activities.
- Configure, administer, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN environments, firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches, wireless technologies, and multi-site connectivity.
- Administer virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, Nutanix, and related technologies.
- Support virtual infrastructure capacity planning, performance optimization, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Administer Microsoft Windows Server and Linux systems and associated infrastructure services.
- Support storage, backup, replication, and recovery technologies to maintain data integrity and resiliency.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement access controls, network segmentation, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure security best practices.
- Assist with the integration and administration of cloud and hosted infrastructure services.
- Lead or contribute to infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, migrations, expansions, implementations, and performance-improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate infrastructure capacity and identify opportunities for optimization, automation, standardization, and modernization.
- Develop technical plans, implementation procedures, test plans, rollback procedures, and project documentation.
- Provide project status updates, technical recommendations, and risk assessments to infrastructure leadership and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and execution of infrastructure technology roadmaps.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve reliability, security, scalability, or cost efficiency.
- Vendor, Asset, and Licensing Support
- Work with hardware, software, cloud, telecommunications, and managed service providers to resolve technical and operational issues.
- Participate in vendor evaluations, technology assessments, contract renewals, and solution-selection activities.
- Assist with infrastructure cost optimization, budgeting, and forecasting by providing technical requirements and lifecycle information.
- Maintain accurate records of infrastructure assets, licensing, warranties, support agreements, and maintenance contracts.
- Coordinate vendor support activities and escalate service issues when necessary.
- Create and maintain infrastructure diagrams, configuration records, technical procedures, standards, and operational runbooks.
- Follow established change management, incident management, problem management, and configuration management processes.
- Ensure infrastructure systems comply with internal policies, security standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by gathering documentation, responding to technical inquiries, and assisting with remediation activities.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and perform after-hours maintenance or emergency support as required.
- Seven or more years of progressive experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 concepts, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and multi-site connectivity.
- Experience administering virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, Nutanix, or comparable enterprise technologies.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server and Linux operating systems and services.
- Experience supporting data center operations and multi-site enterprise environments.
- Working knowledge of storage platforms, backup technologies, recovery processes, and disaster recovery principles.
- Experience working with infrastructure vendors, telecommunications providers, managed service providers, and technical support organizations.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues in production environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Availability to participate in on-call rotations, scheduled maintenance windows, and after-hours support.
- Experience supporting medium-to-large data center environments.
- Experience with Fortinet, Cisco, Dell, VMware, Nutanix, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, cloud services, and hosted infrastructure providers.
- Experience with storage platforms, enterprise backup solutions, replication technologies, and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience using infrastructure monitoring, configuration management, or automation tools.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, scripting, or automation using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
- Experience supporting environments subject to PCI DSS, SOC 2, NIST, ISO, or similar security and compliance frameworks.
- Infrastructure certifications from VMware, Nutanix, Cisco, Microsoft, Fortinet, or an equivalent provider.
