Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in designing, managing, and evolving our enterprise infrastructure landscape. This position combines technical delivery , strategic planning, and hands-on engineering across on-premises and cloud environments.

About the Role

As the Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of Sci-Fleet's core infrastructure services. Working closely with the Infrastructure Team leader and broader technology team, you'll provide technical delivery and contribute to infrastructure strategy while ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of critical business systems.

This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise architecture, cloud adoption, cybersecurity initiatives, and infrastructure modernisation projects across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Cloud Services

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions.

• Manage hybrid infrastructure environments.

• Support and optimise server, storage, networking, and virtualisation platforms.

• Maintain infrastructure lifecycle management, upgrades, and capacity planning activities.

• Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.

Security & Compliance

• Implement and maintain infrastructure security best practices.

• Support cybersecurity initiatives including identity management, endpoint security, vulnerability remediation, and monitoring.

• Ensure compliance with organisational policies and industry standards.

• Participate in security audits, risk assessments, and incident response activities.

Microsoft 365 & Endpoint Services

• Manage and optimise Microsoft 365 services including:

  • Licensing

  • Entra ID (Azure AD)

  • Exchange Online

  • SharePoint Online

  • Teams

  • Intune

• Support endpoint management and device compliance initiatives.

Project Delivery

• Contribute to infrastructure project planning and design through to implementation.

• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to IT team members.

• Work with internal stakeholders and vendors to deliver technology outcomes.

• Contribute to IT strategy, roadmap development, and technology standards.

Operational Excellence

• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity.

• Develop automation and process improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.

• Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational procedures.

• Participate in after-hours support and escalation processes when required.

• Occasional travel with overnight stays within Australia

About You

You are a proactive infrastructure professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering reliable, modern technology solutions. You enjoy solving complex problems, collaborating with stakeholders, and influencing technical direction.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years' experience in infrastructure engineering or systems engineering roles.

• Strong experience supporting enterprise Microsoft environments.

• Demonstrated experience with:

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Windows Server (DNS, RDP, FSLogix, IIS, etc)

  • Visualization Technologies VMware and Hyper-V

  • Microsoft 365 Administration

  • Active Directory / Entra ID

  • Intune and Endpoint Management

  • Networking technologies (switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs)

  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions

• Experience implementing security best practices and infrastructure hardening.

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Ability to delivery technical projects and mentor team members.

Highly Desirable

• Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, Security certifications, etc.)

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.

• Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred).

• Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks and governance practices.

• Experience in multi-site enterprise environments.
