The Opportunity
Contract: 1 year, with potential to extend
Hybrid, Melbourne
We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to keep our client's lab and server environments secure, stable and running smoothly, while also supporting the applications and pipelines that sit on top of that infrastructure.
This role spans hands-on infrastructure projects, routine system maintenance, day-to-day operational support, and contributing to data tooling — a great fit if you enjoy variety and want ownership over how systems are built, patched, deployed and kept online.
What you'll do
- Manage core networking components (DNS, firewalls, routing, load balancing) and set up HTTPS for on-prem systems using the internal Certificate Authority
- Establish and configure an internal Ubuntu repository
- Migrate container images to the new Quay registry
- Support deployments on Kubernetes (OpenShift)
- Coordinate system patching and vulnerability remediation based on Rapid7 scan reports
- Support and maintain applications built with Python, Flask and React
- Maintain, troubleshoot and resolve issues in Airflow data pipelines
- Maintain dashboards used for visualisation and reporting
- Provide database support, including troubleshooting and maintenance
- Process password reset requests and respond to server outages and other incidents
- Write and maintain Bash/Python scripts to automate recurring tasks such as patching and password resets
What you'll bring
- Experience administering Linux systems (Ubuntu preferred), including repository and package management
- Familiarity with certificate management and setting up HTTPS/TLS in internal environments
- Working knowledge of container registries (e.g. Quay) and image management
- Experience with Python, Flask and React, ideally in a data visualisation context
- Hands-on experience with Airflow for data pipeline development and troubleshooting
- Experience deploying and managing workloads on Kubernetes/OpenShift
- Familiarity with Superset or similar BI/visualisation tools
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g. Rapid7) and patch management processes
- Exposure to database administration
- Solid troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to incident response
