You will work with infrastructure, service delivery, applications, site IT and external partners to resolve incidents, deliver projects and strengthen the security and availability of the Group technology estate.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, troubleshoot and improve LAN, WAN, WLAN, internet and remote-access services across a multi-site environment.
  • Configure and support enterprise switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, network access control and related monitoring platforms.
  • Investigate network and security alerts, determine impact and priority, coordinate containment or remediation, and maintain clear incident records.
  • Support vulnerability management, secure configuration, patching, certificate lifecycle, access reviews and remediation of audit findings.
  • Administer and improve core Microsoft infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, endpoint management and virtualised services.
  • Use monitoring, logging and SIEM data to identify faults, security concerns, performance trends and opportunities for proactive improvement.
  • Deliver infrastructure upgrades, site deployments and lifecycle projects from design through implementation, testing, handover and documentation.
  • Provide technical escalation for complex incidents and work with service providers and vendors to restore service within agreed priorities.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, asset information, configurations, operating procedures, recovery documentation and knowledge articles.
  • Apply change control, least privilege, defence-in-depth and secure-by-design principles to operational work and project delivery.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity exercises and support the analysis of service failures and corrective actions.
  • Share knowledge with colleagues and provide practical guidance to site IT teams and junior engineers.

Qualifications

Experience and technical capability:

  • Typically 3-5 years of relevant experience in enterprise infrastructure, networking or security operations. Equivalent depth of practical experience will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, Wi-Fi and common network troubleshooting methods.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, access control and secure remote access.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft server, identity, collaboration and endpoint technologies in an enterprise environment.
  • Working knowledge of security monitoring, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, identity controls and incident response.
  • Comfortable using monitoring, packet capture, log analysis and command-line tools to isolate complex faults.
  • Experience working with third-party support providers, telecoms carriers and technology vendors.
  • Clear written documentation and the ability to explain technical risk and options to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications and desirable experience:

  • A relevant third-level qualification, industry certification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft, Fortinet, Cisco Security, CompTIA Security+ or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Experience in manufacturing, food production, operational technology, highly available multi-site environments or other 24x7 operations is desirable.
  • Exposure to BGP, 802.1X/AAA, Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, virtualisation, backup and recovery, cloud networking or automation is advantageous.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites, where required.

Personal attributes:

  • Calm, methodical and accountable during high-impact incidents.
  • Security-minded without losing sight of operational practicality and business continuity.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and take ownership through to resolution.
  • Collaborative, curious and willing to challenge constructively.
  • Committed to safe working, high-quality documentation and continuous improvement.

What success looks like:

  • Reliable, well-monitored services with fewer repeat incidents and faster diagnosis.
  • Network and security risks are identified early, prioritised clearly and remediated effectively.
  • Infrastructure changes are planned, tested, documented and handed over cleanly.
  • Site and central IT teams receive responsive escalation support and useful knowledge transfer.

Equality and inclusion:

Dawn Meats is committed to providing equal opportunities in employment. Applications are considered on merit, capability and suitability for the role, with reasonable accommodation available during the recruitment process where required.
