What you'll do

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll take the lead on designing intuitive, self-service database products that make all the difference to our customers, as well as our strategic targets. This is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in a highly innovative and supportive environment.

You’ll collaborate with product owners to create roadmaps and manage the lifecycle, taking customer feedback, new feature requests and production issues into consideration. As you continue to manage the selection, creation and maintenance of database-related technologies, you’ll ensure that our solutions comply with the bank’s requirements and responsibilities.

You’ll also:

  • Identify new ways to solve problems and enhance performance using tech tools
  • Provide operational support for pattern or product-related issues, and contribute to the delivery of infrastructure as code solutions
  • Build awareness of design-thinking tools and techniques across the bank to improve products
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure that we continue to deliver the best possible service

The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, you’ll have experience in software development or automation scripting, such as Python or Shell. You’ll be knowledgeable about the software development lifecycle, with experience of utilising modern infrastructure as code via tooling.

We’ll expect you to bring a good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets, with the ability to create the vision for the Release Train, feature team, platform and domain.

In addition, you’ll have:

  • Experience of working with public cloud platforms, preferably AWS, with significant overall experience in technology and engineering environments
  • Experience in the Kubernetes ecosystem, with a strong focus on reliability, availability, scalability, and operational efficiency
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in production environments
  • Experience of applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and working within ITIL-based service management frameworks
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation tools, including Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Python scripting, and GitLab
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills, and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly
