Infrastructure Engineer (Windows & SQL)

Summary

The Infrastructure Engineer will manage and troubleshoot Windows Server and SQL Server environments, including migrations and virtualization. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract role that is remote with occasional travel to Warwickshire.

Experience Required

  • Strong hands-on experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration and troubleshooting across different versions.
  • Experience of SQL Server migrations, upgrades and moving applications or workloads between environments.
  • Practical experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.
  • Good working knowledge of VMware virtualisation.
  • Solid infrastructure knowledge covering Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience producing clear technical documentation, standards, build guides, policies or guardrails.
  • Ability to take technical ownership, lead investigations and work effectively with internal teams and third-party partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to propose ideas and lead technical discussions.


Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure, Azure SQL services and hybrid-cloud migration activity.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Basic familiarity with PostgreSQL. Deep PostgreSQL administration is not required, but you should be comfortable researching, installing and configuring it to recognised best practice when needed.
