Our client is a leading global hedge fund with a strong technology-driven culture and an international presence across major financial centres. Technology is a key competitive advantage, and the firm continues to invest heavily in modern infrastructure, automation, and engineering excellence to support its global trading and investment platforms.

The organisation offers a highly collaborative environment where engineers are empowered to solve complex technical challenges, automate at scale, and build resilient, high-performance infrastructure supporting mission-critical systems.

The Role

We are seeking an Infrastructure Platform Engineer to join a growing Infrastructure Engineering team responsible for building, automating, and operating the firm's core technology platform.

This role is ideal for someone with strong Linux systems administration and infrastructure automation experience who enjoys working across compute, virtualisation, containers, networking, and cloud-native technologies.

You will play an important role in modernising infrastructure through Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and platform engineering best practices while ensuring high availability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision, configure, and maintain physical and virtual Linux servers across production environments.

  • Administer and support virtualisation platforms, including troubleshooting infrastructure issues when required.

  • Manage Debian-based Linux environments using automation while maintaining the ability to perform manual administration where necessary.

  • Develop and enhance Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration.

  • Build automation to streamline systems administration, operational workflows, and platform management.

  • Configure and maintain platform services including load balancers, databases, container platforms, middleware, queue managers, and high-availability solutions.

  • Monitor platform health using Prometheus and related monitoring and alerting tools.

  • Troubleshoot complex issues across infrastructure, operating systems, applications, virtualisation, and hardware.

  • Maintain accurate hardware inventory and infrastructure documentation through automated processes.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and development teams to improve platform reliability, scalability, and performance.

  • Participate in occasional data centre activities for hardware installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Strong experience administering Debian-based Linux environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible or similar).

  • Strong scripting and infrastructure automation skills.

  • Experience supporting production containerised environments (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Experience designing or supporting highly available infrastructure platforms.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

  • Experience with virtualisation technologies and enterprise infrastructure platforms.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux operating systems, infrastructure, applications, and hardware.

  • Experience implementing monitoring and alerting solutions using Prometheus or similar monitoring platforms.

Nice to Have

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including switching, routing, firewalls, and load balancing.

  • Experience with enterprise storage platforms and distributed systems.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms and hybrid infrastructure environments.

  • Experience supporting low-latency or high-performance computing environments.

  • Background within financial services, trading, or hedge fund environments is advantageous but not essential.

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to work with a leading global hedge fund in a highly technical engineering environment.

  • Exposure to modern infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering technologies.

  • Work on business-critical systems supporting global investment operations.

  • Collaborative team with a strong engineering culture and continuous learning mindset.

  • Competitive compensation and long-term career development opportunities.
