Infrastructure Security Engineer
Summary
The Infrastructure Security Engineer will bridge the gap between Data Center operations and Cyber Security, managing security controls for hybrid infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID. The role focuses on implementing security hardening, managing identity protection, and ensuring compliance across the company's infrastructure estate.
Be part of the movement - and play your part.
This is a unique opportunity for you who thrives at the intersection of IT infrastructure, security, governance, and operations. You will help strengthen the security posture and operational maturity of DFDS’ hybrid infrastructure estate, spanning critical on-premises platforms, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and selected cloud services.
Rather than a traditional Cyber Security Engineer role focused on incident response, threat hunting, or SOC activities, this position is embedded within the Data Center team. You will play a key role in implementing and operating security controls across infrastructure platforms while acting as the bridge between Data Center Operations and the Cyber Security organization.
You will join a highly skilled team responsible for servers, virtualization platforms, identity services, storage, and critical infrastructure. Working closely with Cyber Security, Operations, and Project Delivery teams, you will help ensure that security requirements are translated into practical, sustainable operational solutions.
What kind of exciting challenges can you expect to meet?
You will help secure and govern DFDS’ infrastructure platforms while ensuring alignment with our Cyber Security strategy, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.
Your responsibilities will include managing and improving infrastructure security controls such as Microsoft Defender technologies, certificate and PKI services, Privileged Access Management (PAM), identity protection solutions, SIEM integrations, and server hardening initiatives.
You will work closely with Cyber Security specialists through regular reviews, vulnerability remediation activities, and risk assessments. You will also contribute to compliance initiatives, audit preparation, risk management processes, and vessel infrastructure assessments.
In addition, you will participate in infrastructure modernization projects including Windows Server lifecycle management, platform upgrades, hybrid infrastructure initiatives, and security improvement programs.
Beyond security, you will support Data Center operations and continuously improve processes, documentation, and governance practices that help the team operate efficiently and consistently.
Additional tasks:
Participate in infrastructure and security-related projects across the organization.
Maintain documentation, operational procedures, and governance processes related to infrastructure security.
Act as a key liaison between the Data Center team, Cyber Security team, auditors, and other stakeholders.
About you

With this in mind, we think that you are a structured and versatile infrastructure professional who enjoys working across technology, security, governance, and operations.
You have experience working with enterprise infrastructure and understand the importance of processes, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration. You are comfortable balancing hands-on technical work with governance, risk, compliance, and project-related activities.
Most importantly, you enjoy working in a broad role where no two days are the same and where you can help improve both infrastructure operations and security maturity.
The ideal person for this position will have the following qualifications:
Experience working with Windows Server infrastructure in enterprise environments.
Understanding of infrastructure security principles and operational security controls.
Experience with Microsoft Defender technologies and security monitoring integrations.
Good knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, identity protection, and privileged access controls.
Familiarity with Azure Arc, hybrid infrastructure environments, and server lifecycle management.
Ability to support audits, compliance activities, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements.
As well as:
Experience contributing to infrastructure modernization and transformation initiatives.
Ability to create and maintain documentation, procedures, and operational processes.
Strong collaboration skills across infrastructure, security, and business functions.
Personal competencies
Curious about technology and security developments.

Nice to have
Experience in maritime, transportation, or highly regulated industries.
