Infrastructure Solution Architect
This Brisbane based market leading technology firm are dedicated to delivering innovative networking solutions that drive business success. Their team is passionate about designing and implementing robust, secure, and scalable network infrastructures that meet the evolving needs of our clients.
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Infrastructure Solution Architect to support a major energy and telecommunications client on a critical infrastructure transformation initiative. Working closely with the Senior Solution Architect, you will help design a new, client-controlled Operational Technology (OT) management environment built to meet stringent security and compliance requirements, including the SOCI Act and AESCSF Security Profile 2 (SP2).
This is a practical, design-focused role for an experienced infrastructure, network or security professional who can translate architectural direction into detailed, implementation-ready designs. You will develop the High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs) and technical documentation required to move the project from architecture into delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Support the development of the Architecture Plan and Roadmap (APR), including current-state discovery, technical validation and target-state design.
- Develop HLDs, LLDs and solution design artefacts for Phase 1 delivery work packages.
- Design secure infrastructure capabilities across server and storage, backup and recovery, time synchronisation, identity and access management, endpoint protection, patching, DNS/DHCP, file transfer and network management.
- Develop Fortinet management and security designs covering FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiAuthenticator.
- Design Microsoft identity and access capabilities, including Active Directory, MFA, tiered administration and privileged access workstations.
- Define network segmentation, trust boundaries and access controls between the new OT management environment, corporate IT and the DMZ.
- Align solution designs with AESCSF SP2 practices and applicable SOCI obligations, ensuring compliance evidence is built into the design process.
- Evaluate platform options for capabilities such as Network Management Systems (NMS), Privileged Access Management (PAM), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and certificate management.
- Prepare clear, costed recommendations and document technical decisions, assumptions, dependencies and trade-offs.
- Define integration requirements for shared corporate platforms and identity and security services
- Proven experience in infrastructure, network or security engineering, including a minimum of three years in an infrastructure or solution architecture role.
- Experience designing OT, SCADA or segregated networks within critical infrastructure environments.
- Working knowledge of the SOCI Act, AESCSF, Essential Eight or IEC 62443.
- Experience producing high-quality HLDs, LLDs and implementation-ready technical documentation.
- Hands-on design experience with Fortinet technologies, particularly FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiAuthenticator.
- Take a hands-on role in developing the detailed designs that underpin a new OT management environment.
- Strong Microsoft identity and access management expertise, including Active Directory, MFA, tiered administration and privileged access workstations.
- The ability to assess technical options, document trade-offs and make clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Experience with technical estimation, delivery planning and defining implementation scope.
- The ability to work pragmatically with evolving requirements, incomplete information and competing delivery priorities.
