Infrastructure Solution Engineer
Summary
Hybrid Sydney role as an Infrastructure Solution Engineer modernising a large enterprise's Linux, OpenShift and edge infrastructure. Day to day involves automating deployments with Terraform, Ansible and GitOps, owning CI/CD pipelines, and hardening RHEL, Kubernetes, Azure and GCP platforms with security teams.
Sydney, Hybrid | Enterprise Environment | Edge, OpenShift, Linux & Cloud Native
An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Infrastructure Solution Engineer to join a large, complex enterprise technology environment, helping shape and modernise a highly distributed Linux, OpenShift and edge infrastructure landscape.
This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, infrastructure automation and technical architecture, with a strong focus on making infrastructure easier to consume, automate, secure and operate at scale.
You’ll work across engineering, operations and security teams to modernise legacy environments, build automated deployment pathways and improve the reliability and scalability of Linux and container platforms across edge and cloud environments.
What you’ll be doing
- Help define the roadmap and "golden path" for Linux and Red Hat OpenShift deployments across distributed edge environments
- Build and improve automated infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible and GitOps
- Own and enhance CI/CD pipelines supporting image builds, automated testing, patching and fleet-wide deployments
- Support the transition from traditional infrastructure and manual deployments towards container-native and infrastructure-as-code environments
- Work across RHEL, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Azure and GCP
- Partner with Security teams to embed CIS benchmarks, vulnerability management and policy-as-code into platform engineering
- Use monitoring and telemetry to identify operational issues, reduce manual effort and improve platform reliability
- Work closely with application, engineering and operations teams to balance speed, security and stability
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Red Hat OpenShift
- Kubernetes
- Terraform and Ansible
- GitOps, ideally ArgoCD
- CI/CD and infrastructure automation
- Bash, Python or Go scripting
- Distributed edge or hybrid cloud environments
- DevSecOps, container security and vulnerability scanning
You’ll also need the ability to operate beyond the purely technical, working with different stakeholders, translating complex requirements into practical engineering outcomes and helping shape platform priorities and technical roadmaps.
Why consider this role? This is an opportunity to work in a highly complex, large-scale technology environment where Linux, OpenShift and edge infrastructure are business-critical.
You’ll have the chance to influence how infrastructure is designed and consumed, modernise legacy environments and work with modern cloud-native, automation and DevSecOps technologies at scale.
