Infrastructure System Administrator
General Description
DataPost is seeking a hands-on Systems Administrator to support, maintain, secure, and improve our enterprise IT systems and business-critical infrastructure.
The role is suited for candidates with strong systems administration experience in Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, backup, patching, virtualisation, secure file transfer platforms, system monitoring, documentation, and operational reporting.
As DataPost operates in a security-sensitive service delivery environment, the successful candidate must be security-conscious, disciplined in documentation, and familiar with supporting systems where confidentiality, availability, access control, audit readiness, and operational reliability are important.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Administration & Infrastructure Operations
Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server and Windows client systems.
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, user accounts, security groups, access permissions, and authentication-related services.
Support domain controller operations, file services, system access, and server-related troubleshooting.
Monitor system health, availability, performance, logs, alerts, storage, capacity, and operational status across critical infrastructure platforms.
Perform system configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational support for enterprise and business-critical systems.
Ensure system administration activities are carried out in accordance with internal security, operational, and change control requirements.
Maintain proper access control, documentation, and operational traceability for supported systems.
Client Systems & Secure Service Support
Support client-related systems and infrastructure used for secure service delivery.
Perform daily and periodic checks on servers, secure file transfer platforms, backup jobs, system alerts, operational logs, and service availability.
Assist in troubleshooting issues affecting client services, file transmission, authentication, processing, or system availability.
Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and service providers to resolve infrastructure issues and support service continuity.
Support system readiness for scheduled operations, batch processing, secure file transfers, and business-critical service delivery.
Ensure support activities are properly documented, traceable, and handled with appropriate confidentiality.
Monthly Client Systems Review Reports
Prepare and maintain Monthly Review Reports for supported client systems and infrastructure.
Review and document system health, uptime, backup status, patch status, antivirus/EDR status, storage utilisation, capacity trends, system alerts, incidents, changes, and outstanding issues.
Review security-related items such as user access status, privileged access, account changes, endpoint protection status, vulnerability remediation status, and relevant security events.
Consolidate operational findings and highlight risks, exceptions, recurring issues, remediation actions, and recommended improvements.
Work with internal teams to follow up on findings from monthly reviews and ensure action items are tracked to closure.
Support internal reviews, client service reviews, audit preparation, and compliance-related requirements by maintaining accurate system review records.
Ensure monthly reports are prepared with appropriate confidentiality, accuracy, and care, as they may contain sensitive operational or client-related information.
Microsoft 365, Cloud Identity & Endpoint Management
Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and related productivity services.
Support Microsoft Entra ID, identity synchronisation, access management, and related cloud identity operations.
Manage endpoint devices using Microsoft Intune, MDM policies, compliance policies, and endpoint configuration profiles.
Support endpoint security, device onboarding, software deployment, compliance checks, and endpoint lifecycle management.
Assist in managing Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, and related security and compliance tools where required.
Security, Patching, Backup & Hardening
Perform and coordinate server, endpoint, and application patching activities across approved maintenance windows.
Monitor patch compliance, follow up on failed patches, and maintain proper patching records.
Support backup monitoring, restoration testing, recovery activities, and backup-related troubleshooting.
Assist in system hardening, baseline configuration, vulnerability remediation, and security improvement activities.
Support antivirus, EDR, SIEM, log review, and security monitoring activities where applicable.
Ensure infrastructure activities are carried out with proper change control, approval, documentation, and rollback planning.
Support security reviews, infrastructure reviews, audit preparation, and compliance-related activities.
Virtualisation & Infrastructure Documentation
Administer and support virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V.
Support virtual machine provisioning, configuration, backup, monitoring, resource allocation, and troubleshooting.
Maintain infrastructure documentation, system inventories, configuration records, access records, and operational procedures.
Support business continuity, disaster recovery, restoration testing, and service recovery planning.
Work with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders to resolve infrastructure issues and support operational requirements.
Secure File Transfer & Application Support
Support secure file transfer platforms and related systems, such as SFTP, Tectia, IBM Sterling Connect:Direct, or similar platforms.
Assist in troubleshooting file transfer failures, connectivity issues, authentication issues, certificate/key-related issues, permission issues, and processing issues.
Support systems used for secured data exchange, business processing, and client service delivery.
Participate in incident handling, root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive actions, and service improvement initiatives.
Requirements
· Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
· Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in systems administration, infrastructure operations, or secure IT operations.
· Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, file services, user administration, and access control.
· Experience supporting business-critical IT systems, secure operations, managed service environments, or client-facing infrastructure.
· Experience administering Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and related services.
· Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, endpoint management, MDM, and endpoint security tools.
· Experience with server and endpoint patching, backup monitoring, restoration support, system hardening, and operational documentation.
· Experience preparing operational reports, system review reports, audit support documents, or infrastructure service review reports.
· Basic understanding of security principles, including least privilege access, controlled access, change control, audit trails, incident handling, and data confidentiality.
· Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewall rules, VPN, and connectivity troubleshooting.
· Good troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and follow-up skills.
· Able to work independently and coordinate with internal users, technical teams, vendors, and service providers.
· Able to support planned maintenance, incident response, service issue escalation, and infrastructure changes when required.
Preferred Experience
· Experience in secured printing, data processing, financial services, managed services, data centre, or other security-sensitive service environments.
· Experience supporting client-facing systems or business-critical infrastructure.
· Experience preparing monthly client system review reports, infrastructure health reports, security review reports, or operational service reports.
· Experience supporting secure file transfer platforms such as SFTP, Tectia, IBM Sterling Connect:Direct, or equivalent solutions.
· Experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, EDR, SIEM, or security compliance activities.
· Experience with backup solutions, disaster recovery procedures, business continuity support, and restoration testing.
· Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools, ticketing systems, asset inventories, change records, and IT operational reporting.
· Experience with Hyper-V or other virtualisation platforms.
