Reports To: Lead Physical Therapist

JOB SUMMARY

Physical therapist assistants (PTAs) provide physical therapist services under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist (PT). PTAs implement components of patient care, obtain data related to the treatments provided, and collaborate with the PT to modify care as necessary. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and presentation of the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development and assess data reflective of the patient’s current status in relation to their age specific needs. Other tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited program for Physical Therapy Assistant.

Licensure: Registered PTA, or eligible for license in the State of Georgia.

Experience: May be a new graduate.

Skills: BLS CPR. Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patients needs/supplies appropriate

for age group of patient served. Good communication and time management skills. Needs basic computer skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

May work in outpatient department, inpatient department, industrial sites, or other community events. May be required to work a flexible schedule. Exposure to hazardous chemicals and equipment found in a typical therapy setting. Rotates weekend/holiday coverage for Department.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT

Required to display characteristics consistent with registration requirements and ethical practice in Physical Therapy. Frequent lifting, bending and reaching required. Substantial amount of walking required. Moderate amount of stress.
