Description

At Batesville, you will be a part of a dynamic team committed to excellence and innovation. A recognized leader in the death care industry in North America, we are committed to our mission of helping families honor the lives of those they love®.

Batesville has been named one of the Most Trustworthy Companies in America by Newsweek for the third year in a row, reflecting our commitment to quality, integrity, and the trust families and funeral professionals place in us every day.

Your Role at Batesville:

We are looking for a high-performing phone sales professional who knows how to hunt, control a sales conversation, overcome objections, and close business. This is not an order-taking or customer-service role. The Inside Sales Representative owns revenue growth across an assigned portfolio of funeral home accounts and is expected to proactively create opportunities, win new business, expand existing relationships, and consistently ask for the sale.

The role operates in a high-activity, performance-driven environment with clear expectations around revenue, outbound activity, customer engagement, call quality, and CRM discipline. Representatives are expected to conduct effective discovery, articulate differentiated value, handle objections, and make a close attempt on outbound sales calls.

How You’ll be Rewarded:

  • Batesville is a family. You will be part of a family of highly committed associates who are passionate about our company, committed to our customers and excited about our future.
  • The expected base salary range for this role is $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
  • IMMEDIATE ELIGIBILITY – Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance, as well as prescription coverage, short-term disability, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and more.
  • Generous 401K Matching Program
  • Paid time off
  • Opportunities for development and advancement

What You'll Do

  • Proactively hunt for revenue opportunities across existing, lapsed, and non-buying accounts.
  • Execute a consistent, high-volume outbound calling strategy and build relationships with customer decision makers.
  • Follow a defined sales process while adapting the conversation to the individual customer and situation.
  • Use strong discovery and active listening to uncover explicit and latent customer needs.
  • Control the sales conversation, maintain momentum, and prevent opportunities from becoming passive follow-up.
  • Clearly articulate value and competitive differentiation without defaulting unnecessarily to price.
  • Confidently handle objections, negotiate appropriately, and ask directly for the business.
  • Upsell and cross-sell products when customer needs and opportunities support it.
  • Maintain accurate CRM activity, customer insights, call outcomes, commitments, and follow-up.
  • Own individual results and use performance metrics to identify gaps and improve selling effectiveness.
  • Actively participate in call coaching, training, feedback, and continuous development.
  • Adapt quickly to changing products, promotions, technology, sales strategies, customer needs, and performance expectations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven phone-sales closer with demonstrated success converting conversations into revenue.
  • Strong outbound hunter who is comfortable pursuing customers who are not actively looking to buy.
  • Competitive and motivated by measurable goals, individual performance, and winning business.
  • Comfortable operating in a KPI-driven, accountable sales environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow a repeatable sales process without sounding scripted.
  • Strong call control, discovery, objection handling, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Resilient through rejection and persistent without becoming overly aggressive with customers.
  • High internal ownership. Looks first at what can personally be changed when results fall short.
  • Highly coachable and able to turn feedback into observable behavioral improvement.
  • Adaptable, self-directed, organized, and disciplined in a remote working environment.
  • Strong phone presence with concise, confident, customer-focused communication.
