The Car Inspector will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, identifying any mechanical or cosmetic issues, and providing accurate reports to assist in making informed decisions about the purchase or sale of vehicles. This role requires strong automotive knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate findings.
Specifically, the Inspector at Peach can expect to undertake the following tasks and activities:
  • Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections, covering both mechanical and non-mechanical aspects, in collaboration with the Assistant Inspector.
  • Review and validate inspection work, ensuring accuracy and consistency across both personal assessments and those completed by the Assistant Inspector.
  • Accurately identify, diagnose, and document issues to ensure all findings are properly captured and reported.
  • Process and interpret inspection data to produce clear, logical, and meaningful documentation.
  • Perform detailed inspections with precision, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Guide customers through inspection reports, ensuring findings and recommendations are clearly communicated and well understood.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in internal training sessions to build team capability and knowledge.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including research, development, and process enhancements within the inspection team.
  • Diploma or Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in Vehicle Inspection, Automotive Diagnostics, or Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
  • 3+ years in vehicle inspection, diagnostics, or repairs.
  • Experienced in engine checks, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical, bodywork, and interiors.
  • Knowledge of vehicle pre-purchase and pre-repair inspection standards.
  • Skilled in using Inspection tools, e.g., OBD and computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Proficient in manual checks and digital reporting systems.

At 3 Months:
By the end of the first three months, the Inspector consistently conducts accurate and high-quality vehicle inspections with minimal supervision, produces clear and comprehensive inspection reports, and effectively communicates inspection findings to customers, ensuring they understand the vehicle's condition and the recommendations provided.

At 6 Months:
By six months, the Inspector is consistently delivering efficient, high-quality inspections while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. They have built trust with customers through clear and professional communication, support the development of Assistant Inspectors by sharing knowledge, and contribute to maintaining consistency across the inspection process.

At 12 Months:
By the end of the first year, the Inspector is recognized as a trusted subject matter expert who consistently delivers high-quality inspections and reports. They actively contribute to improving inspection processes, documentation, and team capability, while mentoring colleagues and driving a culture of quality, consistency, and continuous improvement across the inspection function.
