Installation Technician- StarGard

On-site technician installs and services vehicle security systems at dealerships, traveling between locations to complete installations, repairs, and maintenance while ensuring 100% program coverage by weekly deadlines.

The Installer (StarGard) is responsible for servicing specific dealerships as assigned. They will complete program installations, repairs, maintenance tasks, and diagnose errors or technical problems that arise and determine what solution will be most effective.

Essential Functions:

  • Checks T-Sheet calendar daily for scheduled appointments
  • Reports to the dealers per assigned schedule
  • Picks up keys at dealership for the purpose of opening a vehicle for installation
  • On rare occasions, moves vehicles if parked in a tight space with limited access for installation
  • Ensures proper installation of program to avoid installation errors
  • Communicates with dealer management regarding installation schedules
  • Keeps lot at 100% completion with program installs (All inventory must be completed & installed by Friday of each week)
  • Communicates to dealer management and home office regarding failed installations
  • Labels and tracks all vehicles properly
  • Always maintains a professional appearance and wears company uniform

New Dealer Launches:

  • Travels to dealers for launch when required
  • Drives and/or flies to designated launch locations
  • Maintains a valid Real ID and/or travel passport

Education and Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance coverage
  • Prior experience as a field service technician
  • Proficient use of the following tools:
    • Wire Crimper
    • Wire Stripper
    • Power Drill
    • Automotive Multimeter/Voltmeter
    • Bit Set for Panel Removals
      • Ability to travel and work according to a changing schedule
      • Excellent time management skills
      • Ability to problem-solve
      • Strong communication skills and ability to convey information clearly and effectively for training purpose

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive between dealership locations to perform onsite installations and service tasks
  • Ability to hear and talk, both in person and by phone
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally when transporting tools or materials
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, and stand for extended periods during installation work
  • Ability to perform tasks in awkward or confined spaces, such as under dashboard or inside of trunk, for extended period to access wiring and panels
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills sufficient to handle small components and operate precision hand tools, small wires, and connectors
  • Ability to use a power drill and bit set for extended periods, which requires moderate grip strength, wrist stability, and upper body strength
  • Capability to read and operate automotive multimeters/voltmeters, requiring visual acuity and hand-eye coordination safely and accurately
  • Vision acuity required to include close vision, color vision, distant vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to grasp objects such as a telephone or computer mouse, finger dexterity to use a keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment
  • Ability to frequently sit for long periods of time
