Piedmont Global, a Strategic Globalization Organization (SGO), is looking for an experienced Instructional Designer (Educational Technology)/Digital Media Editor with a background in Educational Technology for an onsite position supporting the National Foreign Affairs Training Center (NFATC), formerly the Foreign Service Institute, in Arlington, VA.

Contract End Date: 8/15/2027 (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create digital content based on the current language curriculum, including ensuring the readability, structure, organization, style, and formatting of all digital content.
  • Collaborate in the creation and formatting of language content within authorized NFATC Learning Management Systems to improve the online delivery and use of various language-learning tools.
  • Collaborate with the COR, ACOR, or GTM throughout all stages of the SLS Curriculum Design Process, helping create and format the online environment for the language curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the COR, ACOR, or GTM in providing training to staff on the use of educational technology and other tools for creating and maintaining language curriculum.
  • Follow NFATC and SLS procedures regarding copyright and track compliance for assigned development project(s).
  • Collaborate with the COR, ACOR, or GTM and content creators to establish processes and deadlines for the editing workflow.
  • Provide regular status updates on progress to the COR, ACOR, or GTM and, upon request, provide briefings to content creators and other stakeholders regarding progress, standards, or issues requiring discussion.


Requirements

Qualifications
  • BA/BS, MA/MS, Ph.D., or foreign equivalent degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • One (1) year of experience or education in Educational Technology or Digital Media Design.
  • One (1) year of experience using a Learning Management System as either an instructor or administrator.
  • Experience creating digital training materials, including course content, teaching manuals, student guides, e-books, and interactive media such as video, audio, animation, and digital text.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and graphic design applications, including Adobe Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office Suite, as well as familiarity with online meeting platforms such as Zoom, Skype, and Microsoft Teams.
Preferred experience with one or more of the following languages: Albanian, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Burmese, Czech, Croatian, Dari, Dutch, Farsi, Georgian, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Lao, Montenegrin, Nepali, Polish, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Thai, Urdu, Ukrainian, Uzbek, and Vietnamese.

Experience in desktop publishing and graphic design is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience training instructors in the use of digital training techniques.
