Role Purpose

The Instructional Designer transforms subject-matter expertise and source materials into structured, engaging, and measurable learning experiences across corporate, product, technical, and professional education. The role requires strong instructional design expertise combined with practical knowledge of generative AI. The candidate should be able not only to use AI tools, but also to understand, evaluate, and clearly explain AI concepts and applications as a subject-matter expert.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audience and training needs analyses, identify performance gaps, and define measurable learning objectives.
  • Design curricula and learning solutions across e-learning, blended learning, microlearning, and virtual instructor-led training.
  • Create course structures, storyboards, instructional content, assessments, and scripts for video, audio, animation, and interactive experiences.
  • Transform complex technical and professional subject matter into clear, accurate, and engaging learning content.
  • Design active and practice-based learning experiences, including scenarios, simulations, branching activities, and interactive assessments.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts, product teams, engineers, and stakeholders, recommending suitable instructional approaches and explaining design decisions.
  • Use AI-supported tools and workflows for research, content development, scripting, prototyping, assessment design, and personalised learning.
  • Review and improve AI-generated content, ensuring factual accuracy, instructional quality, clarity, and alignment with learning objectives.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness using learner feedback and performance data and recommend improvements to existing courses.
  • Act as a content author/SME for courses on AI in education.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, Learning Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in instructional design, corporate learning, digital education, or educational content development.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, learning objective development, and assessment design.
  • Proven ability to create structured, active, and interactive learning experiences across multiple digital formats.
  • Experience working with subject-matter experts and converting complex or incomplete source materials into effective learning content.
  • Practical understanding of generative AI and its applications in education, learning design, or content development.
  • Ability to explain AI-related concepts, workflows, capabilities, and limitations clearly to learners and stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with e-learning authoring tools and learning management systems, supported by a relevant portfolio.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to Have (Not Obligatory):

  • Experience developing technical, product, software, data, or AI-related learning content.
  • Experience acting as an author, trainer, consultant, or subject-matter expert on AI-related topics.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted authoring workflows, prompt design, adaptive learning, or AI-supported assessment.
  • Additional background in STEM, IT, data science, or another technical field.
